15 Bean Soup (Protein) Thanks Terri
15 Bean soup:
In the section of the grocery store, you will find packages of beans. There is one listed as "15 bean". It will even come with a seasoning packet inside.
Get yourself a ham steak or two, depending oh how much you want in the soup. You can even take a left over ham bone and put it in there.
1) Empty beans into a large pot, fill with water and let sit over night. This softens the beans up a little.
2) Drain water from beans when ready to start cooking and add fresh water to cover the beans fully.
3) add the ham bone (if you have one) or chop up the ham steaks into small pieces and put that in the pot. Add the seasoning packet also.. I also add a little garlic powder, onion powder, 1 small-med chopped onion, season salt to taste and some pepper.
4) Bring up to a boil, reduce heat and simmer about 3-4 hours. Until beans are tender. Stir occasionally so the beans do not stick.
Now if you want Butter Bean soup, you do the same thing. Only difference is that the Butter Bean (Large white lima beans) do not come with a seasoning packet. You have to add your own seasonings to it.
Thanks Terri.............keep them coming babycakes. I need a FOLDER of WLS friendly recipes ;o) Not that I dont have a ton of Cookbooks after RNY but they are all complicated and stuff lol ;o)~

No Matter How I May Change, I Will Still Be ME!!!!
You can tolerate that right now? Are you serious? I was so sick to my tummy the first 18 days I could only eat jell-o and yogurt and hot tea lol for real!! Oh and that nasty protein pudding Mike made me the first few weeks. BLEEEK! lol Oh and dont let me forget my Luigis Italian Ice (No sugar Added) and my NSA Fudgesicles too. They SAVED MY BEHIND those first few weeks out. I recall my nut telling me on day 14 I could eat scrambled eggs and just the thought made me shiver he he he
