Dang, I failed my sleep study!

I have to say, I love my CPAP.  I was one of the "lucky" ones that did so poorly in the first half of the sleep study that they put me on CPAP that night.  I slept so much better (even in the sleep lab) that I actually went to the appointment hoping they'd give me one.  It was a struggle to get used to and I have to say it's still not "normal" and I look forward to giving it up (Surgery date 12/15 yippee!!!) but I consider the last year a blessing - sleeping so much better, not as tired as I used to be during the day and the DW and kids say I am so much less cranky.  Pain in the butt and well worth it

I did three sleep studies before actually successfully completing one. We suspected for years I had apnea but I had trouble sleeping when I went for the sleep studies.  15 months ago I had some surgery and while using morphine the alarms kept waking me up because I would stop breathing and my oxygen levels were way too low.  Then I had an xray and I had an enlarged heart (also from apnea).  The sleep study lab gave me a sleeping pill and while not the most restful night it was worth it.  I found a mask that worked for me by reading all I could on the internet and the company I worked with for supplies offered exchange if you were not happy.  I sleep great now and feel like a whole new person.  I can't wait to have my surgery because between the sleep apnea and the weight I was a mess.  I used to doze at my desk and could never stay awake to watch a movie at night but now I sleep at night and that is it.  I actually worry about sleeping without it.  When I travel it always goes with me.

Sorry for the short post this am,,,

When I first got diagnosed with OSA, the hospital gave me a "no-name" CPAP. I talked my Insurance into sending it back and getting me a Respironics. I later bought a BiPAP auto out of pocket, when it came time to replace my machine ( Every two years per my insurance) they bought me a BiPAP auto. If you have insurance issues and have to pay out of pocket, let me know. I have three machines, can only use one.
