Brian -

I feel your pain - I found that my taste/smell changed after wls.  It's pretty common, and yet frustrating!!!

So.....how about telling us what you DO like - since that seems to be a shorter list?

And don't despair - it won't last forever!!!!  If it makes you feel any better, a friend of mine is having RNY tomorrow in Canada, and he will not see "real" food until 60 days post-op!!!!!!!!!  YIKES!!!

Hugs,

Tia

Hey Brian,

Ah, I am so glad to know surgery went well for you. I just wanted to let you know YOU ARE NOT ALONE here; I just wrote a blog about this same situation today. Unfortunately, I am also in the full liquid diet stage (had surgery on the 6th, discharged on the 8th) and I literally dislike EVERYTHING I put to my mouth, even worse, I have a terrible tendency of smelling things before I taste them and I noticed, this is a HUGE no no for me right now, because not only have my tastes changed, but so has my sense of smell.

Hopefully, you're doing better than myself by getting your liquids and protein in. And yes, just know, this stage of disliking things, will not last forever.

Good Luck and let me know how it goes!

~Nicole

How about s/f popsicles?  In addition to the regular grape, cherry, orange variety, there are tropical flavors and Superfresh also carries s/f bomb pops (remember - the red white and blue from our childhoods?).  They save a lot of people's sanity during the liquids!!!  Also, on the full liquids, you would be able to eat the s/f popsicles with cream filling and s/f fudgesicles.

You'll get to chew and you'll get liquids!!!!

I loved the Sugar Free Crystal Light Pops... I am betting you could also make your own of those!

No suggestions but wanted to say good luck!!!

How long do you have left on that full liquid?

This is the part I'm not looking forward to! I'm very funny about textures.. I can't stand cottage or ricotta cheese BLEH. Even most yogurts are yucky to me.  If you find things you like, keep me informed!! LOL

full liquids are hard but to be honest I'm finding pureed even harder.  after the initial pureed hard boiled egg, the texture is killing me.. oh well tuesday I move to soft food...

let's see for full liquids can you have thinned cereals (we could)

so i would make my cream of rice with milk and then thin it even more with RTD protein drink. I also added SF syrup to flavor it...  can do that with cream of wheat and oatmeal too.

also  greek  yogurt with protein powder or splenda worked for me

i like the syntrax nectar  fuzzy navel protein drin**** COLD with crystal light orange added

cottage cheese helped me... that was my go to but i like it a lot.   add spices if you want.
