HELEN/GRAMMOM UPDATE
After trying several times to reach her, Helen and I finally connected last night. She's doing okay, after another brief stint in the hospital for both the infection and having gotten a piece of bread stuck. Then, she realized she wasn't getting enough nutrients. I beat on her to stay on top of things, she said she is now, but of course, I ALSO question her surgeon's advice - or lack thereof.
From what I know from the patients of this same doctor, there are very little post-op instructions given - and I don't get it.
Anyway, she's doing okay, hopes to be back to work soon. She's dealing with both computer and phone issues, hence her not being on OH in a while.
She thanked everyone for their good thoughts and concern and said she'll be back when she can!
Thanks,
Tia

I'm not only confused, I am freaking stunned at the lack of information she actually received. HOWEVER, as a caveat, you need to remember that a well-informed patient is the best kind - it's up to us to educate ourselves, as well as relying on our surgeons. It's when we can't rely on them for even the most basic of info that it gets dicey.
