A BIG thank you to Terri Schember for this recipe!!!!
Delicious Apple Crisp Recipe (Thanks Terri)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Things you'll need:
1) 5-6 tart apples ( I used Jonathan Gold and Cortland but you can use anything)
2) 2/3C sugar (I did splenda to taste...once I cut up the apples, I put them in a big bowl and used the splenda and cinnamon to taste...I DID NOT use a lot of it either)
3) 3 tbsp flour
4) 1 tsp. cinnamon (as with the sugar, use to taste...everyone is different)
5) 1 1/2 C Brown Sugar ( I used about 3/4 cup of splenda brown sugar)
6) 1C butter melted ( I used about 1/2 C)
7) 1 3/4 C Flour (I used about 1 C : this is used to make the crisp on top. you want it crumbly so you can start with the 1C and if you need more, add more)
8) 13x9 baking pan (you can use what ever you want really)
Peel, core, and chop the apples (I sliced them into thin slices). Place the apples in a 13x9 inch dish (or what ever you want to use)
It says to mix the sugar, cinnamon and the 3 tsp of flour in a bowl. I toss the apples in with it to make sure they all get a good coating instead of sprinkling it over the top of them in the pan.
In another bowl, mix the melted butter, splenda brown sugar, and flour until coarse crumbs form. Now you can also add 2C quick rolling oats to it, I didn't.
Sprinkle the brown sugar mix over the apples in the dish, pressing down to work crumb mixture into apples. Dish will be very full. Bake 50-60 min. Let cook about 30 min and serve.
I served mine with some Breyers SF vanilla ice cream. Yes, Breyers has sf ice cream...lol

The container does say "no sugar added" and it shows up in the upper right corner of the container that it is sweetened with Splenda. Looking at the nutrition facts, it does say 4g sugar and 4g sugar alcohol. It also has 14g carb and 2g protein. 80 cal for 1/2 cup serving. It does seem like a very low count for the sugar. I don't dump on sugar or the sugar alcohol's. But the apple crisp itself does not have any added sugar, just the splenda, (i actually used the walmart brand called Altern). The altern is cheaper then the splenda and is made with the exact same things. The brown sugar though is made by Splenda though. Hope you enjoy. I will keep tweeking some recipe's and pass them along. I LOVE to bake.
This sounds yummy...word of caution to those that dump though...the Splenda Brown Sugar Blend is just tha, a blend of Splenda and REAL brown sugar! I think someone posted a thread about the Splenda Baking Blend which is also a blend of sugar and splenda. Don't want to be the cause of someone's dumping syndrome!

I tolerate it fine. I think I can take anything in moderation. It really wont hurt you according to my nutritionist BUT everyone has to experiment for themselves. Now if someone over indulges then they will have issues....but if they are wise about it they should be fine. The Splenda Brown Sugar mix is AWESOME!!!!!!
