Need some help
Ok Marty went and saw Dr. Singh yesterday. He thought he was going to get a fill because his loss has kind of stalled for the last few weeks, but Dr. S said he didnt need one. He felt that his weight, although not ideal, was in the normal range of loss for the time frame. He also feels that he is eating too much protein and wants him to add other things into his diet such as dairy, veggies, and fruits. Here's where actually he needs help. In the morning he gets up super early to get to work and takes with him a couple of pieces of sausage. He cant eat while driving because its too distracting and he ends up not chewing so he eats when he gets to work. Sausage is easy to grab n go and reheat, Dr. S says no more because its too much protein/calories. So, what kinds of breakfast foods can he take with him that would be easy for him to make at the office. He's not a huge yogurt or oatmeal fan. Eggs dont go down. Also his band is tighter in the morning, so he wont eat much. Ok so just to give you an idea of what he eats it goes something like this:
Morning:
2-3 sausage patties about 1 hour apart each.
Mid day/lunch (usually later in the day is mid day for him)
Protein drink, sometimes 2 spread out over the day.
Dinner
whatever protein/veggie i make.
He usually will grab something to munch on when he gets home if dinner isnt ready. By 4 he is absolutely starving. So help me out here, what more can he add to make him more satisfied during the day and to get rid of some protein.

Hi Mel!
Would Marty drink a fruit smoothy? That'd be an easy way to get some fruit in. And fruit, flavored syrups and extracts can "hide" the yogurt taste.
Essentially, though, I don't believe that breakfast has to consist of breakfast foods. You could make him some low carb lettuce wraps - maybe some taco meet in a lettuce wrap or a few slices of lean deli meat?
As I think of other things, I'll add them.
Hugs,
Tia
Hi Mellie,
I guess I don't get the too much protein thing, but I do a yogurt/fruit smoothie in the morning. 5-7 strawberries (I use frozen), 1 c. greek yogurt, 1/4c. skim milk and splenda to taste. I also add protein powder but he could skip that. Or he could just do milk, fruit, and ice in a blender.
Hope that helps,
Heather

If he doesnt like yogurt, what about cottage cheese mixed with fruit to add in the fruit and dairy. I am not a big yogurt fan either but I love the greek yogurt.
Also for breakfast, I just eat whatever I have made and portioned out. Turkey meatloaf and Wendy's chili are my favorite for now and I always have them handy so I will just grab and go!
I try to EAT all my protein and somedays I will have one protein supplement and I need to be at 80-100 grams per 800-1000 calories.. Once I move up between 1000 and 1200...it's 115 grams of protein. My PA gave me this whole mathematical print out of how much protein I need to consume... it's alot.
I usually have some cheese for a snack..Cabot 50% less single serve bar or a wedge or two of laughing cow...both really soft and go down easy for me.
I have a hard time with fruit because I don't eat that many fruits and usually like the ones with the most natural sugar. I do like the apple sauce cups made with splenda.
I would suggest for afternoon time a snack with fiber to hold him over. Berries, veggies that are cooked. Maybe some whole grain crackers like reduced fat wheat thins or wasa crackers.
IMO he may not need to drop protein so much but just add the other food groups.
