Update on Me
Wow - I haven't been here for months! Hope you all are doing well in this daily walk away from obesity.
Here is a quick update on me. I had a port infection that started back in July. My doctor kept a close eye on me and put me on antibiotics and eventually had an endoscopy. No band erosion - thank goodness but the infection wasn't getting better either.
Wednesday I had emergency surgery to remove the old port, move the band tubing and place another port on the left hand side. Being 100 pounds less that I was with the original surgery I thought it would be easy. It hasn't been an easy recovery at all. I am hurting but will get better every day.
Hope everyone is doing well.

No - these issues are not normal. It can occur in 1 in 200 patients. Because the port is a foreign object the body's bacteria can start to fight it causing an infection. After a course of antibiotics the infection usually clears itself up. Not in my case, lol. That is why I had to have surgery. I am feeling better - thanks!
