5K for my birthday next year
good luck girls, i can tell you from having been in several 5K's over the past year they can be alot of fun. the most well organized events will have booths set up, lots of healthy food to snack on before and after the race and plenty of people to mingle with........and before u know it , its over .
participating is great, if u choose to walk , fine. but actually running(jogging) the entire length of the 3.1 miles gave me a HUGE since of accomplishment. it inspired me to do more. I'm not a big fan of running, i mean ; its hard, it hurts...but finishing my first 5k put a little water in my eyes, i had never been able to jog over a mile in my life (and that was in high school).........I'm rambling, but if u can, train now to jog the entire course.........LATER

Thank you that was great to read! I honestly believe I will have tears in my eyes as I cross that finish line. For a girl that used to weigh 350 lbs running this 5K is the ONLY option for me!! I have plenty of time to train for it. I already can safely and easily jog a little over 2 miles on the treadmill now so I think I will be all set come June, yipee!!
