I have Tricare Prime....I am looking for information on revision.  I had the RYN in 2003.  Can any of you help lead me to some information or surgeons that I can consult with?

As far as your insurance, I think the first thing I'd do is call Tricare and see what they cover.

Regarding surgeons, mine was Dr. David Von Rueden at St. Agnes, and I know he does revisions.

While you're doing your research, check into the Stomaphyx.  I think that these are through the mouth surgeries with minimal downtime, and are great for those GB patients whose pouch doesn't work as well anymore.  Plus I hear it's much cheaper than doing a full revision and some patients go back to work within days.

Good luck!

Candy that is also known as the ROSE procedure it stands for..

(Restorative Obesity Surgery, Endoluminal) the procedure is incisionless and designed for RNY patients.

Although laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery is successful in achieving weight loss, some patients start to regain weight a few years after surgery. The stomach pouch and stoma (the connection to your small intestine) created during the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure may have gradually stretched out over time allowing you to eat more because you feel less full during meals. Because the stretched stomach pouch and stoma allows patients to eat more, the result is gradual weight regain.

If you regained a portion of the weight you originally lost after your gastric bypass and feel less full after meals, you may be a candidate for the new ROSE (Restorative Obesity Surgery, Endoluminal) procedure that helps restore gastric bypass patients’ stoma and pouch to the original post bypass surgery proportions, limiting food intake. To determine your eligibility, we will perform an initial screening followed by a series of evaluations including nutritional and dietary counseling, a full medical exam and endoscopy.

I am not sure what kind of revision you are looking for but I know that the RNY can be revised to a DS. You should check out the DS forum for more info. I am sure they will be super helpful with providing you with information.

I would go into your PCM and talk them.  Since you are on prime you will have to get a referral to have it covered.  If you can get the referral then they will do one of two things.  They will send you to the surgery team at WRAMC/NNMC or they will send you out.  I went through WRAMC for my surgery.  I'm not sure what type of revision surgeries they offer.  My surgeon was Dr. Lin and I do really like him.  I also like the head of general surgery at WRAMC.  I didn't have to fight to get my referral or get approved so I'm not sure all that you will have to go through.  I would start the process now though, because they can be slow.  Good luck!
