EKG Tomorrow

I've never had an EKG before, so I'm a little nervous. It's for the pre-op stuff but, I'm nervous because my grandmother died of heart disease and my mom has heart problems too. I don't want to find out any devestating news. I'm sure it will be fine (I HOPE). Pray for me.

Surgery date is getting closer and closer. It's starting to feel more real now!

Hi Lisa,

I would not worry at all. Like I told my doctor, a little of everything runs in my family. I was 376 lbs. pre-op and was astonished to find that my EKG was very normal. I will pray for you!

My family is the same way. Heart disease, lung cancer, colon cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc etc etc.  That's why I am hoping to break the cycle. I do not want to die at 60 like my Nana.  This whole new life will be starting soon and I can't wait!

And that's just it - you're breaking the cycle!!!  I'm sure it'll be fine - an EKG is painless, but better they know about anything going on so they can fix it and you can be at optimum health before your surgery.

Nerves are fine, honey, just don't freak out TOO much!

Hugs,

Tia

Lisa,

Best of luck...the rest of the tests are easy.  Dr. Schweitzer did my gastric bypass on 27 Aug.  I have lost 30 pounds and feel great!  The nurses at the hospital were all so wonderful.  If I needed anything, they were there to help.  Good luck!
