Could It Just Be Muscle Soreness???

So 9 days out from surgery and moving around a bit more and a bit better the last 3 days.  But today however, I have this increasingly sore feeling in my abdomin.  It's not around the port or any other incisiions or even where Im pretty sure the band is placed.  It's more like mid tummy level.  I press and it's tender. Move the wrong way and its sore.  It's been ages since I have been sore from a stomach workout but could this be what I am experiencing being that I have been moving more and sleep on my side etc.?

I have no pain or stuck feeling, no vomitting either.  Still on liquids and things are going down fine.

Any ideas/affirmations?

It is possible it could just be part of the healing process. At the same time, I always think it is a good idea to double check with your MD.

I am glad that you are feeling better in general though.

I agree with Debbie may be healing but rest your mind and call your Doc just to be sure. It is hard to tell at times where and what pain or tenderness is coming from. Just cal that is why your Doc is there for you.. Good Luck....

I attributed my muscle aches to the cautious holding - you use more muscles than you think when you're trying to compensate so that you're not in as much pain.  I held my stomach in a way whenever I coughed, that after a week, I noticed that the pain was there from compensating.

Plus they worked around the tummy in doing the band.  Imagine them having to wrap it around.

As long as you're feeling fine, I'd just drop a call to the doc just to make sure, but I personally and unprofessionally do not think it's cause for concern.

Nikki,

I hope you are feeling better today.  I agree call your doctor just to make sure.

Have a great day!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

I'll be 3 weeks post-op tomorrow and I still have some muscle tenderness on the left side. It's not excrutiating, but it is tender if I press it or move a certain way. I was told that it's normal, that they do most of their work on the left side.

So I took an extra day off work and trying to take it easy! YAY me! I called the Dr. and like always they called me right back which I love about them!  They said no worries.  Explained to me also that they anchor the port to a muscle and just normal movement could cause the muscle soreness.

I left the message that it feels like I did a 1000 crunches and she called me back and said SO YOU ARE DOING CRUNCHES? I was like OMG NO!  I said that is what it feels like to describe my tenderness.  No crunches for awhile for me!

Another concern down....back to work tomorrow I guess...grrr.
