I have asked the nutritionist but she never really gave me a straight answer.  Are you mixing your protein powder with milk or water?  I found a milk at giant that only have 7 grams of sugars.
The only difference between try and triumph is just a little umph

Hi Jenn,

I've used both depending on the type of mix.  However, I prefer to use skim milk!  The sugar in the milk is lactose, a natural sugar, and most (not all, of course) people don't have issues with it as far as dumping goes.

I am 5 1/2 years post op, so I am probably a little 'different' in that I do still use protein drinks/mixes, but inititally my surgeon said use WATER .. not milk, so as not to add the additional calories in milk.

I make a shake each a.m. using 2 cups of water, 1/3 cup dry skim milk, my protein powder, instant decaf coffee, a couple of equals, some SF DaVinci syrup.  After I mix it up, I pour it over ice and have an iced coffee drink.

I add the powdered skim milk now to get some additional calcium because I'm not so good at taking my calcium supplements.  The milk also adds some protein.

Best wishes on your WLS journey.

Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

I use 2% milk since the very beginning from having surgery.  Doc & nutritionist said it was fine.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
