i have been mostly reading the message boards and not really posting anything. i am through my 6 months of appointments, filed all the appropriate paperwork with my job,  did my pre-op physical and tests, and my surgery is scheduled for oct 8th. (the rny-bypass pending approval, which i should get~fingers and toes crossed!) everyone keeps asking me if i am nervous, and well, i am starting to wonder if i should be? i am taking things one day at a time, i am focusing on the next "step" ,example, next up for me is the liquid diet next week and the endoscopy the week after.

it seems so surreal to me still, i really don't feel anything at all... is that ok?

thanks for any opinions!

I didn't feel nervous or scared until it was really close!  It's normal and it was the BEST thing I've ever done for myself!

Everyone reacts differently. For me, I was soooo excited, couldn't wait, was telling everyone (which I had thought I'd never do).  Got a little nervous, the night before. It's the best thing I ever did, for myself, other than divorce my first husband!!  I was even willing to do everything required, and that's NOT like me!  But I did it! You'll be so happy that you did!  Hang in there, the date's almost here!  Keep us posted, as we're all here for you!!

I was never nervous.  Not even in the hospital.  The wait felt so long...   I was so glad when the time finally came!

i was not nervous at all. not sure if being nervous helps. sounds like you are doing all the right things and maybe you just know that this is the right thing to do so you have no doubts. so yes it is ok! and good luck!

Hello and welcome to the MD board...glad you decided to come out of lurkdom to post.

Everyone is different.  Personally I was excited, nervous, and scared all at the same time.  I'm almost a year out and this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.  I just wish I had done it sooner...I hemmed and hawed for a few years before finally making the decision to do it.

Keep focusing on the next step and you'll be there in no time!

You are doing it right!.  There is so much to think about and accompolish that I didn't
have time to get nervous until couple days before surgery.  Was still excited but started
to have second guesses.  It is the best thing that I've done for me and my family.  I would
do it all again

Hang in there and just do everything needed.  You won't be sorry
