39 Days and Counting

Just thought I'd check in to see how you good people are doing! I've been busy with work, my daughter, and admittedly playing games on Facebook LOL.

I've got most of my ducks in a row for surgery on Oct. 20th. It's getting here slowly but surely.

Any tips during my waiting period?  I'm trying not to drive my husband crazy by getting anxious. I'm so tempted to go ahead and buy broth, jello, and whatever else won't go bad by then. I don't feel like listening to him tell me I get prepared too soon for everything lol. That's how I am though. When I know something is coming up I want to get everything done way beforehand.

Anywho, I hope everyone is doing well.

Lisa,
Your date is coming quick, and I am just like you, I would rather be safe then sorry. Whatever you can do before you go, the better off you will be. I loaded up with water bottles, SF ice pops, SF jello,  Crystal Light SF Carnation instant breakfast( to mix with protein powder). Have you ordered your vits and protein yet? I am sure you are prepared and very organized. Tell your hubby not to make fun of you, because the more you do, makes it less for him to do! I had VSG back in Feb. and it's the best decision I ever made. This surgery was perfect for me. It is very interesting how people gravitate to one WLS or another, and pretty much everyone likes the decision they made. I know you will be happy with the sleeve. I feel like I went in on 2-24-09, and I have never looked back. I only wished I had done this years ago, but better late then never. If you have any ? post them or you can PM me, I wish you all the luck and happiness that this surgery has given me. Leslie:)

Lisa......
Glad to hear you are doing ok....I see ya on FB all the time! The best advice I can give ya on the waiting game, is just stay calm & have fun! It will breeze right by and then you will also be a loser! It is an anxious time, but you will get thru it fine!
My hubby was grateful that I had stockpiled items! It was less he had to worry about! I wouldnt stock up on protein powders tho unless they are samples......I bought 3 different LARGE canisters and now I dont like them! Unfortunately, since money is tight, I have had to gag them down! If you order a bunch of samples, it will be cheaper on you. Then you can order a large supply of what you like. I wish I had listened to that one tidbit of advice!
I am here or on FB if you ever wanna chat!

I was living your pain in the waiting game at this time last year.  I think it was 10 weeks between getting my date and the actual date with Dr. S.  It will get here and then time will fly!  I can't believe it's been 11 months for me already.

I agree with everyone else.  Stock up on the broths, soups, s/f popsicles, NSA apple sauce, and any other non-perishable items.  Also, Heather is right on not stocking up on the protein powder.  I ended up ordering a bunch of samplese from Vitalady.com and went through them after surgery to see which ones I liked and couldn't handle.
