Totally frustraited

Howdy fellow OHrs:

I am just totally frustraited with everything medical.
Yesterday when I went to get in to the truck to leave work some ninney decided to park so close to the truck that I really didn't have enough room to get in and strained my right knee ( the one i just had surgery on)doing so.  I couldn't even use the passanger side as that vehicle was parked as close.
Went to a garage party and got "fitted for" a motorcycle.  It was a gathering for women that think they may want to ride.  haven't heard from either the California Department of Insurnace or Maryland Health Education and Advocacy Unit or Obesity Law in California.  Begining to think the surgery won't happen.

have an appointment with orthopedist tomorrow and with out seeing him I know he will say keep fighting for the wls and once that is done then the pain in my knee will disapate.  If I do what he has been telling me I am not going to loose weight by exercise and diet.  Dr says only 5 min on treadmill and 3 min on bike every other day.  BS.  Do I go against what dr says and push my body to and beyond limits?  Do I ask for a more convincing letter of medical necessity?  I am sorry gang, I just need to vent.  Am very discouraged at this point.  Wanna a life I can enjoy and not "just exist".

Will be in and out all day.

*hugs* sorry you're going through such a down day Lori. I would listen to your doctor's advise as he's really trying to keep your knees together.  What happens if you push beyond limits - think you'll be permanently injured or that he'll be able to fix you?  Sorry if I sound harsh, just meaning to provide a reality check!!! LoL

Also, what's the status of your office changing insurance to a plan that WOULD cover WLS?  I think that's your best bet at this point.  Typically if WLS is an plan EXCLUSION, it's not covered, period.

Good luck Lori! Chin up!

Angie:

thanks for the hug, and the reality check.  Most definatly have to becareful. The status of my employer changing insurance plans, if they do, won't happen until april 2010.  I have a caseworker from the health education and advocacy unit working on my behalf with the insurance company, I contacted them as per direction of my insurance company.  When I contacted them I asked how they could ignore the laws of the state where the people they insured reside and I was told that these laws can not be ignored.  We will see what happens in the mean time. I will keep plugging along, but just get tired of 'spinning my wheels' if ya know what I mean.

I can't bloom if I am stuck in cement

thanks again Angie

I forgot to ask - how large is the company you work for?  I keep forgetting that MD folks are supposed to be covered for WLS......... but I think some of it has to do with company size if employers fit under that law?

Keep plugging... don't give up... don't let it get you down. Easier said than done huh?

Angie:

the company I work for is world wide and locally we have in excess of 120 employees.  So they can't skate under the small company exclusion.

I will keep it up sometimes just get kinda tired. lol

Oh Lori,
I am sorry that you are having one of those days? weeks? Never feel bad about venting on this site, that is what it's here for. I know it doesn't make you feel any better, but we have all been there in one way or another. Soon, things will get back on track, and this day(week) will be a distant memory. We are all rooting for you! Take a long hot bath(or Valium) and things will look better in the morning.  Good luck, smile, Leslie:)       orLOL

I am sorry Lori that you had such a tough day, stay focused and keep hope.  I hope your knee gets better soon and nope do not do anything different than what your doctor has told you to do.

((((hugs)))

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
