I am getting nervous/anxious
Ok so I finally received the go ahead from the psychologist. I was having issues with emotional and binge eating so I had to complete a 6 week cognitive behavioral eating class. I had a follow-up with her today and she will make sure that Dr. Steele has a letter "oking" me for surgery. I still need to have my PCP's office fax over all of my notes but things are finally coming together. I started this process in December and it seems like I have had one road block after the other and now i am finally seeing the finish line. I read everyone's posts just about daily but rarely ever post myself. You guys are amazing!

I'm happy to hear it's coming together for you. I, too, had MANY roadblocks along the way, so I know how frustrating it can be. I started the process in late 2007 and just had surgery last week. It was definitely worth the wait though and I felt so much more prepared for it. Hope to see you post more. Good luck!!

I congratulate you for going through the classes. I believe it should be a prerequisit for all patients. This surgery is a great tool, but it is not the fix. It is so much more about your head and wrapping your brain around a total lifestyle change than it is about how big your pouch is. I wish you all the best in your journey ahead.

Gail- the 6 week class was great! It made me aware of why I eat in situations when I am not actually hungry and gave me insight on what I can do about it. The instructor was awesome her name is Janelle Coughlin she is at Johns Hopkins. Becoming aware of why I eat is such a hugh step. I am still having trouble working on the cognitive part of that but I guess life is a work in progress.
