Vegas - What to Do and Where to Eat

Many of you know that hubby and I will be heading to Vegas in October.

We've never been there, and we are going only because my girlfriend is getting married out there.

Hubby doesn't play games - I don't mind if I play all day.

So if you've been out there, let me know what places or areas should we check out?

Where should we try eating ?

Have you had any experience in dealing with the restaurants that will work with the WLSrs in giving them a reduced price since we can't eat $100 worth of food at a $44.95 per person buffet; or reduced portions?

We will be staying at Bally's and the wedding has been confirmed at the Excalibur if you need to know where we'll be.

I heard that there is a car showroom somewhere - I heard about a light show or something at Fremont - etc.   I'd like to know more from your experiences!  Thanks!

The light/fountain show at the Bellagio is supposed to excellent.  Never been there myself as I HATE gambling but this is what I hear.

Also, if you have the time/money, I hear that the Cirque de Soleil show Love is excellent as well!

Candy, get the train pass, it'll help you travel the whole strip in minutes. If the Ex Calibur is one end, the car show is at a casino at the other end; that's how I remember it. We took the train. you can buy the trian pass online cheaper than at the station. I think it's $13 online right now.  We might have found an online coupon for cheaper. but it was worth it.

We did a buffet one day and it was not very expesive; it might have been 19.99 per person. I tried a bite of everything. Besides that, we ate at pretty much the small eateries along the strip; pretty cheap. We did go to 2 Cirque shows, thatw as the most expensive thing we did.

We watched the light and water show outside the Bellagio and the pirate show outside another casino, can't think of the name.

Oh, we did a one day bus tour to the Hoover Dam and they stopped on the way at a casino for lunch and at the M&M factory. It was only like $40 or so and included the luncha nd the tour of the dam. you get to go underground into its belly.

If you can swing it go see Blue Man Group because they do not travel to other cities (they perform in a few - there is more than one group of "men"). Cirque du Soleil travels (they were just here not too long ago), but they are another one to catch. Food, play it by ear and look for deals! Bellagio is a sight to see. Be sure to wear comfy shoes!!! Enjoy the free drinks!
