Our friend
Friends:
I would like to ask you all to please pray for our dear friends Ed and Marylu. They have been through so much this past year with Marylu's mom's sickness, Marylu's serious surgery and of course Ed's ongoing heart problems.
Ed is in the hospital and is very ill right now. He really needs all of our prayers as does Marylu. This is very hard on her with working a full time job and trying to spend the evenings in the hospital with Ed, especially after all she has had to go through with her own health. I am very worried about her so she needs those prayers too.
Ed is on a heart transplant list and has just been bumped up to a higher position. I don't think there is much more they can do for him. I just hope and pray that a heart becomes available for him soon. Thanking you in advance for your positive thoughts and prayers. Gail

Oh my God, how are you? I have my surgery scheduled for Oct. 6, 2009. Next week I have pre-op testing. I finished up my classes in July I didn't see you in that class. I'm really getting excited. You're still have problems with approval? What's there problem! Don't they know, if they let you have this procedure it will save them more money in the long run. I know my insurance will be happy when I have it done. I go to doctors every month I take about 4 different kinds of medications, which is costly to them. I'm on a CPAP for my apnea and I use oxygen and have a oxygen machine at home that I rent. So they will save money when I off of all of that stuff.
It was good hearing from you. Keep in touch.

yes, still trying to get approval. had a surgery date of September 8 but once the insurance said no everything stopped and I had finished half of the pre op testing. I understand about the savings for the insurance company. I am currently taking 10 pills a day plus, my bp has become almost uncontrolable with medication. and I to have sleep apnea but no cpap as of yet. even though it has been highly recommended.
The problem with my insurance is any type of treatment for obesity is listed as an exclusion. They claim its not a treatment decission just contractual and they are bound by federal and state laws. I appealed the first decission and was denied again. How ever, I have contacted the Maryland Health Education and Advocacy Center here in Baltimore; at the recomendation of United Health Care to see if they can either help with another appeal or mediate some type of compromise.
Who knows maybe if things work in my favor we can either have the same date or close.
It was great seeing you on the board and hearing from you. I will definatly keep in touch.
hugs from essex,
