Irritable - Starving. Ready to Scream!!!!!

I am on my 4th day of liquids and I'm losing it.  I am so hungry that my stomach is talking to me.  I am on strict liquids basically protein shakes and crystal light.  My calorie intake has been about 600 drinking roughly 5 EAS shakes per day.  I get a little broth here and there and maybe a 15 calorie sugar free jello.   Mind you my stomach size is normal. I'm ready to eat my arm! I hardly did anything at work today because I want to punch something!

I called the doctor and they said I could have a "little" tomato soup but of course I have none at work.  I forgot I had a small bag of chips in my drawer - OMG. I need to tie my hands to my chair.

Nikki....you poor girl!

I would make sure to get some of that soup right after work and I would buy enough to have some every day.

There has always been this one thing I never got with these doctors:

Don't they realize that if we could eat like this that we would have done it a long time ago?

Okay, your surgery is so close....you can do this.  This liquid program sucks - like I needed to tell you that!!

You have my admiration for doing this, because I know it's not easy.

Can you just give the chips to someone?  Hell, go flush them.  How many calories are you supposed to limit yourself to?  The Pure Protein shakes - I get them at Target and GNC, are pretty good - the cookies & cream flavor literally has no protein taste and 21 grams of protein.  They and the EAS are the ONLY ones I can do.

I wish I could help more.  I've a list of people who need to be taken out if you snap, though.  Will forward it to you!

Hugs,

Tia

Poor thing....Your drs hould had weened you off food little by little to get you ready for your liquid diet...girl, I know its hard, but you can do it...Try chewing gum....Even though I am so sick of chicken broth....I found my appetite slowily decreasing since I have been chewing gum..

I definitely am gonna get the soup tonight to have some.  Also some sugar free popsicles too to have a hand to mouth satisfaction.  I wish this was only for a week - NOT TWO.

Tia, I got the cookies and cream.  It's good.  I had that for breakfast and will probably have that tonight as my last shake.

I think im craving salt this very minute - I want to just go eat a packet of salt HAHAHA!

I want to say realistically I've probably lost about 5lbs but the way I feel it should be TEN!

My regimen is ALL LIQUIDS, 500-900 calories, but really they are talking median so like 700, and under 30 grams of protein per day. I might get away with a half a cup of soup!

Headed for the kitchen and the salt pack now.  I need some sugar free candy and sugar free gum.

I'm not even opening the drawer with the chips in it!

Nikki -

When you get the gum, at the checkout counter, get the Ice Breakers Sours (they have a couple different flavors).  These things SAVED my life when I was trying to adjust to the no drinking for 30 minutes after a meal.  They're just sour enough.

Obviously, the more protein in something, the longer you'll feel full (and the less likely you are to commit murder)!!!  That's why I really liked the Pure Protein shakes.

S/f popsicles will become a staple for you in the early months, too.

Wish there was something more we could do besides listen!!  UGH!!

T

Ask your Dr. if you can have S/F Fudgesicles.  I was much happier with them than I was with the popsicles. I'm not really fruity... and my taste buds aren't either

Am I really kicking and screaming too much over this?  I know as people say - have the eye on the prize right?  And it's not like I'm not doing what I am suppose to do - just hoping it gets easier!  Plus honestly a little jealous that I feel my routine is the most strict of what I have seen...many of you have similar doctors.  Watch me cuss mine out on Thursday for my pre-op visit.

Nonetheless, I have ANOTHER two weeks of liquid after surgery...4 weeks of just liquids.  ANYONE could lose weight!  I actually cannot have regular food until 8 weeks out which is 10 weeks in total...which is pretty much not until the FIRST Week of November

I already decided before I picked a surgery date that I was not celebrating thanksgiving this year!

I'll be lucky  if I get a lean cuisine turkey dinner and a bite of pumpking pie...hopefully made with splenda, not crust.

Grrrr and to think I bought a pumpkin roll from my coworkers daughter.  WTF am I gonna do with that!

I go for another sleep study tonight. I'll keep everyone posted if I am down since my consult date.

I'm ready to go to bed NOW!

I can tell you that once you have surgery, it will be SOOOOOOOOO easy then.  Your tastes will change, everything will change.  I and just about everyone else that's post-op still have YET to have a hunger pain!  Once you are post op, you won't feel like eating/drinking anything but you have to force yourself.  Hang on hon......you're almost there :)

No, you are kicking and screaming at the just the right level for you :-) I had surgery October 30th ... what was I thinking? I even went to a friend's house for the actual Thanksgiving dinner. I tasted everything. 1/2 teaspoon here and 1/2 tablespoon there. I was just the last one to finish.

Your routine is stricter than mine was so I cannot even begin to understand the frustration. I didn't have to do any strict diet before surgery. I didn't even do the liquid and pureed stages for as long as the guidelines listed. But, thena gain, my surgeon said they were guidelines, not rules, and to follow them as my body saw fit. I got tired of trying to blenderize all my meals. But, it does become easier to be on the liquid diet after surgery; for the first few days, I didn't want anything in my stomach.

you are almost there!
