Started My Pre-Op Liquids Today

And I'm really hungry!  Starting to get a headache.  Not feeling this protein drink right now! Has anyone been recommended Unjury?  That is what my doctor recommends.  I got the unflavored protein powder and they say put it in crystal light...well it's not so good. It will be an acquired taste .  It's kinda of a milky fruit punch.  I don't have a choice of putting these powders in my drinks because I need 80+ grams of protein per day.

I am frustrated already.  I just want to leave work and go home and take a nap but I can't.  If I am asleep I wont think about food.

My next meal is chicken broth - yay for me! They said the first 3 days will be hard and irratable and to stay away from everyone.  Thank god it's the weekend. I have two weeks of this!

Need a pep talk!

Nikki,

I am so sorry you are feeling like this. I must say that everyone that had to do the liquid diet said the first 3 to 4 days was really rough.  I have a friend who was so *****y that she kirked on everyone at work and had to leave.

I hope someone can post some ideas to make your protein drink more favorable.  I never liked unjury so I can't advise.

Praying that you don't get a real big headache and please take two tylenols now to help you with it.

I know you can do this, stay positive and remind yourself each time why you are doing this.  You deserve it!

(((((((hugs))))))

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

I make my protein shakes with yogurt, fruit, protein powder, milk, and splenda.  It's really like a smoothie.  You can add flavored syrups, extracts, etc to make them more palatable.  I think Heather J and Candy have a bunch of protein shake recipes they can share with you.

I can have any fruit or yogurt on this stage...I think this is why this part is super difficult.  I am extremely limited to what I can have.

This crystal light and protein powder wouldnt be so bad if it was made with ice and blended.  Gonna have to try that tonight!

Nikki -

I feel really bad for you!  I know it's only for a few weeks, but I'm sure it feels like a lifetime!!

The ONLY shakes I like have a milk-like consistency - EAS Advant Edge and Pure Protein.  And actually, I had the cookies & cream flavored Pure Protein yesterday and there was NO protein smell/taste.  That's a huge deal for me!!!

You can try the different s/f syrups and extracts - keep trying different ones to vary what you can have.  Hang in there, water load as much as you can and keep your eye on the prize!!

We're with ya, honey!!!

Yes, Nikki, it's not "fun" drinking liquids, but the overall results will be WONDERFUL, and that's what you need to focus on!  Just take 1 day at a time and if need, break the day up into parts.  As for the protein powder:  I love my morning coffee and use Syntrax Chocolate Truffle, mixing it with a small bit of cold water, first, then mixing it in my qt. cup of coffee.  Like a LATTE and it's great!  Girl, you just wait till all this is over and you start to feel really great and the lbs. drop off, it's so worth it!  I've NEVER felt so good, in I don't know how many years.  I even STOPPED all my meds. and really feel good!  We're all here for you, just yell when you need help!

Nikki, You're getting close! This is such a exciting time. I hear you about the protein powder  I have the worst gag reflux, so I am not the one to give advice about that! But, I will tell you that you are giving yourself the best gift. The gift of a new life, so many doors and windows will start to open, with new adventures. The day I had my WLS, is the 3rd best day of my life(KIDS, are 1 & 2). At times it can be a very bumpy ride, but the journey is fantastic! Sending good thoughts and prayers, keep us posted on your journey! GOOD LUCK, Leslie
