My name is Kayla, I am Angela's oldest daughter. She asked me to post to inform you guys that she has been in the hospital since Friday. I am truely worried about my mom. They say she is dehydrated, stomach ulcers and something else I can't remember what it is called, but the food is not going into her stomach easily. I love my mom so much. Is this a normal problem for you guys? The doctors and my mom are saying it's no big deal. No big deal??? This is my mom it is a big deal for me. Will you guys please pray for my mom.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this! These kinds of complications can happen. The best thing right now is that your Mom is getting the attention and care that she needs. I will definitely keep her in my thoughts and prayers. And you too - hang in there.

Hugs!

I'm so sorry Kayla, I'm sure everything will be fine, since she is in good hands both with DVR and with St. Agnes.

Let us know her room number.  I live not far from St. Agnes and could stop through to say hello.

Kayla,

I will be t hinking of you and your Mom!   I know it's scart when things don't go smoothly.   I had a complication about 4 1/2 to 5 months post up where a surgical ulcer near the connection to my esophagus caused a stricture (it closed up), and then I had a small fistula where the food that did get thru found a way to my OLD pouch.   The stricture made it difficult to eat/drink and the fistula made it all very painful.

I am sure your Mom's doctor has it under control and will do what is necessary to get her back up to herself in no time.   Nothing about this surgery is 'easy', we all have different issues, but I'm sorry your Mom has to have this one.

Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Good Morning Kayla, I am so sad to hear the news about your Mom. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. If you could get her phone number and her room number maybe some of us can visit or call when she is up to it. Let her know that we are all concerned but we know she is where she needs to be. Tell her to think positive and that we are sending positive thoughts her way... If she needs anything let us know...

OMG!!  Kayla, you poor thing!!!  I'm so sorry to hear this about your Mom.  They will be able to rehydrate her through IV's, so the hospital is the best place for her right now.  And she is definitely in good hands with Dr. Von Rueden.

Ulcers and/or strictures (where the opening to the new pouch closes) can also be treated, but again, the best place for that is in the hospital.

Please give your Mom my best, TRY not to worry, make sure you're taking care of yourself and doing what you need to do (you don't want her to worry about YOU!), and let us know if you or she needs ANYTHING!

Hugs,

Tia

Kayla - love that name.......

I have not had surgery so I cannot offer any input other than to say that your mom is in the hands of some wonderful doctors and I'm sure she'll be fine.

Prayers and crossed paws coming from my family for sure!!

Hang in there sweetie.  Thanks for letting us know what's going on.

Kayla,

She's definitely in the right place.  All of those things can happen with this surgery, as others have already said.  I'll be keeping her and your family in my thoughts and prayers for a successful outcome!
