Getting Closer - Pre Ops Tomorrow!

Tomorrow I go for my pre-op blood work, EKG, and Barium test.  All the more becoming realistic that surgery is around the corner.

I don't think it will hit me until I'm on the hospital bed in garb with IV in hand.  Then I might be a big baby and cry! I know Lap Band is much less invasive than Bypass, however, I still actually did a living will! I'm frickin' 31 years old! I just want to make sure my fur babies are taken care of in any event!

Whew!  Nerves are kicking up a bit.  My family is coming down for the weekend to discuss surgery as they will be in town to take me to the hospital and spend a few days during my recovery.

8 days and counting until my liquid diet!

Wishing you the best. Try not to worry too much. I actually walked into the OR the day I had surgery....asking DVR if he got enough that night. I also got to meet the robot that would actually be doing my surgery...with DVR's guidance, of course. I cannot believe that I wasn't freaked out at that point because I did not know that bit of info until I got into the OR.

Too funny...my living will was to make sure my furbabies were taken care of too!

LOL!!  Don't worry, we all get you wanting to take care of the furbabies!!  We're all a bunch of furbaby lovers here!!

As far as the living will, doesn't matter if you're 31 or 101, it's still a good idea to have one.

You're likely to be a bundle of nerves and emotions until surgery - it's all perfectly normal.  In fact, you can go off now and blame it on your nerves and no one (but us) would be the wiser!!  LOL!!

As far as the barium......not sure if you're going to work after that, but personally, I don't advise it.  I wasn't sick, but I had to make a hurried, hurried trip to the potty because they tell you to drink a lot of water to rid your body of the barium.  My body decided on its own when it was time to get rid of it!!!!  LOL!!

Hang in there,

Tia
