I've honestly never heard of any bandsters becoming LI post op - since it's just a restrictive surgery with "hardware" (I was banded in '06 and revised this year to VSG due to scar tissue), but I understand it is very common in VSG and DS. Maybe it was just a timing issue for you. I'm starting to think I have a mild case of it. Not enough to really bother me, but I've been having painful gas pains and then a need to RUN to the bathroom before I have an accident!

Revised to VSG (6/11/09) weighing 253...

Yeah.  I don't quite understand why I would get it after surgery.  What is VSG and DS?

VSG = Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy aka "Sleeve" Completely restrictive like the band , no rerouting of intestines therefore no malabsorption. Just a smaller stomach; stapled and removed. My pouch holds about 4 oz of solid protein.

DS = Duodenal Switch aka "Switch"  Restrictive and malabsorptive.

 from what i understand, the gall bladder has something to do with whether you become lactose intolerant or not.  for many people, if they have their gall bladder removed while getting their WLS then they have a higher chance of becoming lactose intolerant.  for me, it's the opposite.  I was mildly lactose intolerant before surgery and now I'm not LOL

I went protein shopping before surgey, had two things I was shopping for;

Taste, if I couldn't drink it what good was it?

Protien, As much as possible.

I found Syntha6 Which I have tried Choc, choc.-peanutbutter, and strawberry. ALL ARE GREAT TASTING IN WATER. All have 20+g of protien per scoop, I use two scoops.
