My girl...

Well today is the last day of cheerleading try outs. I have to hand it to her, after 4 days of brutal work outs she stuck it out and is ready to go in there and kick butt today and win a spot on the team. I really hope and pray she makes it. Im so proud of her for doing this. When I was her age I would have never even thought about doing something like this because of my weight but she has not even thought about weight being a problem, and I know she has to notice because all of hte other girls in there look like bean poles. She is giving them a run for their money though. So for today can you please keep Kate in your thoughts and wish for her a spot on the team for all of her hard work...

Oh, Mellie, I got goosebumps just reading this!!!!

I know Kate doesn't realize it, but she's got the admiration of all of us here who may have been too trapped by our fat to even entertain the thought of such a courageous endeavor!!!!

Whether she makes it or not, I think today, we should celebrate "The Day of Kate!"

In my book, she's already a winner!!!

Keep us posted!

Thank you Tia. I made a promise to myself to never talk about her weight as a hindrance like my parents did to me and she doesnt let it stop her. She takes riding lessons, karate (juest earned her yellow belt), and this summer she did tennis with the high school in hopes of going out for the team this year. She really is not trapped at all in her weight and I love that about her because at her age I was very introverted and did NOTHING. I didnt even like going out with friends for fear of people looking at me.

I was a cheerleader for 4 years!  Always the biggest girl on the sqaud but those skinny *****es couldn't even get their asses off the ground like I could!  No matter how many times I got booed for being the fat girl on the court - by the other team that is....cruel kids.  I was like F YOU!  I am good at what I do so take that and put it in your pipe!  I always got, how can you jump like that.  I was determined and worked very hard to be VERY good!

Kate can do it! Big Girl Cheerleaders UNITE!!!

Good thoughts for Kate today!  I admire her enthusiasm...

You go Kate!  I hope she makes it.  I did try out for pom-poms, but didn't make it.  Never knew if it was my weight or if I just wasn't coordinated enough (LOL)!  Probably was the weight.  But good for her not to let that stop her.
