Feeling Very Guilty

Well....that's why we had the surgery...to stop eating like that.  Lol.  No worries.  You just have to know that you cannot do that after you have it.  I know like 2 night b/f mine, my husband and I went out to dinner and I STUFFED MY FACE beyond belief.  It was my last supper.  I couldn't imagine eating like that now.  I'm 5 years into it.  Good luck.

I hit Golden Corral 3 days before surgery.I remember feeling guilty, but i'm glad I did it.

Wow I do feel so much better! Like I mentioned earlier, there are only a few more places that I'd really like to indulge so I most likely will. I am trying to ween myself off of McDonalds though.  I swear they put something in that food to is addicitve.  in '06 I lost 70lbs and I managed to stay clear of McDonalds for 8 months and even then I didn't got that often.  I can do it again!

I think yesterday I felt overboard because I had no breakfast or probably even dinner the night before...then I was starving and ate huge meal and felt blah! I am avoiding the the Montgomery County Fair like the plague!

9 days until liquid - 23 days until surgery!  1 day closer!

Well, one thing that I'm sure you already know is that skipping meals is not good!  First of all, it does weird things to your blood sugars, and your body will go into starvation mode and hang onto the fat!!  Not something you want to happen!!

There's a huge learning curve once you have surgery, but it'll all come together.

You CAN do this!!!

Nikki,

That's not uncommon, just try to be careful.  I see that you will be starting your liver shrinking diet soon. Don't know about your doc, but there are some "meanies" who will tell you they won't perform your surgery if you are gaining weight pre-surgery instead of showing your understanding of post-surgery eating habits and an attempt at compliance.

Since you are lap band, I just want to throw a general reminder out there to you.  You may have already finished counseling sessions with your nutritionist, but please keep in mind that Lap Band patients' dietary restrictions post-surgery are different than RNY.  While most RNYers have the one ultimate limitation of sugar sensitivity once they are completely healed, you will have a much more restrictive diet, at least for the first 6 months to a year post op.  You will need to be cognizant of types of food that may get stuck once you have good restriction.  The good thing is that once you've been eating healthy foods for awhile, your body really won't crave the garbage anymore.  (Head cravings are a different story.)

So happy for you and wishing you the best of luck and success.  If I can help you in any way, please let me know.

Terri

Terri -

I confess that the little bit I know of banding is from bandsters, so bear with me, please!

I think all of us RNYers would LOVE to have the ultimate limitation of sugar sensitivity - alas, and sadly, most of us CAN eat sugar, although not to the extent that a bandster can.  HOWEVER, we, too, must be extremely careful - food can and does get stuck in our pouches.  Trust me, most of us have experienced the "food induced heart attack" pain!

Even at 4 years post-op, I can and do get things stuck.  And unfortunately, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it - what works one day might not the next and vice versa.  It's really frustrating!

I stand corrected, Tia.  Didn't realize you had little stomas like we do.  It's like swallowing a rock, isn't it?

Sometimes, I think a rock would go down easier!!!  That's why you see me joking about, "it's all about the lube!" because some things just need some help from salsa, ranch dressing, tomato sauce, etc.

Oh, yeah, it's fun!  NOT!  I find myself praying, "Dear Lord, if you just let this pass, I'll never try to eat (insert offending food) again!" to "Dear Lord, just take me now!!"  LOL!!!

That's why it's so important for ALL of us to take tiny bites and chew, chew, chew!  Sometimes, though, depending upon the density, nothing is going to help.  I just try to figure out what's going to react that way and avoid it!
