Feeling Very Guilty

I am 3 1/2 weeks away from my surgery date and on the brink of starting my liquid diet in 10 days and I'm eating horrifically.

I just had a huge lunch, I am talking ridiculous amounts of food and I feel awful both physically and mentally.  I could barely walk back to my office with the heat and the bloat I was so uncomfortable.

But recently all I have been thinking about is what can I eat beforehand?  My eyes are really big and so is my stomach

I just want to know if anyone else experienced this before surgery and how to deal?  I hope I am not the only one eating like it's my last supper leading up to surgery! At the rate I am going I'll be gaining 10lbs in 10 days!

We all go thru what you are ;  and honestly there is not much I ate before that I can not
eat now :  just substantially less of it.

thanks Darla...not that I need to put on anymore weight before surgery but I am the type of person that when I buckle down, I go hardcore.  I know initially the surgery will be a success for me, it's long term I will have to worry about but I am sure that is the same for everyone.

Right now however, I am trying my best to focus on short term. I am on the surgery countdown...24 days! Whew it's been a long time coming!

Yep...I think pretty much everyone goes through the Last Supper Syndrome.  I went through it for 3 months before I had my surgery and ended up gaining more than 1/2 of the weight I'd lost pre-op!

I hope you're comfortable in crowds, because trust me, we've all been there!!!  LOL!!!

Pre-op, I made an index card list of where/what I wanted to eat, and systematically checked each one off.

But you know what?  I've eaten at all of those places post-op - it's all about better choices, and of course, once you hit your sweet spot with your fills, you'll have restriction and be able to eat less, too.

Hang in there!  You can do this!!  We're with you all the way!  And I haven't forgotten to send you my ideas.

Hugs,

Tia

Whew!  I feel a little better because I mentally had a list too.  I am however getting tired of certain foods which has been my goal.  There are actually only a few things left on my list.  One of them being so rich fantastic crab dip!  I certainly will need a wls friendly recipe for crab dip.  To heck with the crackers...I'll eat it with a spoon :)

Yup been there and done that.  But like others have said it is all about eating a lot less and making better choices.  I eat everything I ate pre op.

Best of luck!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Don't beat yourself up.  I started my 2 week liquid diet today and this past weekend was one giant Last Supper, including the grand finale last night of steamed crabs, chicken wings, and crab dip. LOL I did the same thing before my last surgery and I still lost more than enough weight for my surgery.

I'm going through the same thing. But, the funny thing is I've actually lost weight even with all the eating. It could be beause I'm chasing my daughter around all over the place. I'm going to force myself into a real diet change soon, so my pre-op tests will look good. I've got a ways to go before Oct. 20th... so I've been having lots of "last suppers" too.
