Hi all!

I saw Helen yesterday - she looked great, considering everything she's been through.  I also had the opportunity to meet/talk with Dr. Vanguri.  I was impressed with his cordial bedside manner.

Helen was in a bit of pain, and her BP was pretty low, so they couldn't give her any meds until it went up a bit, hence my offer to dance on her bed.  Which she flatly refused!!  Hey, I was TRYING to help!!

As you can imagine, even though for the most part, she was still her colorful self (my ears are still in shock!! LOL), you can tell she's just disgusted and wants to come home.

She has a catheter and a JP drain (which was draining HORRIBLY UGLY colored junk), which is good - better out than in, I guess.

The doctor wouldn't even hazard a guess as to when she can come home.  She can having nothing by mouth at this point, and just wants to get on with things.

She was pretty happy that her legs and arms are getting smaller, but since she's had to be completely reopened, she can't tell about any weight loss in the abdomen, especially given the swelling, gas, etc.

So, please, continue to pray for her, and give her a call if you have a moment.  She really enjoyed hearing from the people she has so far.

Also, her birthday is Wednesday, and she's upset about being in there then.  I'll be heading up with some balloons and a card after work.  If anyone else can make it, I know she'd appreciate it.

I'm sure I'll talk to her today, so of course, I'll update more when I know more.

Thanks,

Tia

I'm working Wednesday night, but I could swing by Tuesday evening with some jammies if someone would be so nice to tell me what size and what kind of jammies she wants! (Tia, that was a hint!!!)  I could grab a couple from JCP and go there and help celebrate her birthday a day early to get her ready for the big day when you guys swoop in on her.

I need to know if she wants pull over, button up, sleeve or sleeveless, cotton, polyester, etc.

Sweetie, she'd love to see you, maybe just one more gown (sleeveless, summer-style, maybe knee length, size large).  But don't get a bunch, because she's losing pretty rapidly, down from a 2X.

OMG...I am so sorry to hear that Helen had to go through surgery again. What was the problem? I can remember reading something last week about diverticulitis or something.

I will keep her in my praters that she will soon be feeling better and get this behind her.

Gail -

They were thinking that diverticulitis had caused a bowel perforation, thereby dumping E-coli into her bloodstream.  Now she's on massive antibiotics, and she's really too swollen at this point to see/do anything else.  So it's a waiting game.

I'll give her your best!

Hugs,

Please give her a great big hug from when you see her.
Yesterday Helen and I talked and we had a great laugh. She is a trip!

All of you that have been able to see her, talk to her, etc. are just amazing.  Please send her my best during this tough time.  Hopefully in just a short while she'll look back and 'forget' about all this hell she's going thru.
