Getting In The Mindset For Surgery!

Ok well if any of you read my last few posting regarding my liquid pre-op and post op I think I've gotten that down since mine per my Drs instructions is pretty strict.

I am now trying to fathom the pureed diet and am sort of confused with pureed and then the soft...like with certain foods is there a fine line?

I'm curious to know what some other people did on pureed diets that they liked.  The only thing I can think of is apple sauce but I'm looking for protein ideas other than smoothies with protein powed added.

Please send me pureed diet suggestions.

I'm trying to do several weeks of shopping pre-op so that I don't have to see the grocery store for awhile (sigh)

Any replies are a appreciated!

Best,
Nikki

Hi Nikki - did your doctor provide you a diet with examples?  I know many do.  If not, look at Johns Hopkins Bariatric program.  I know Dr. Schweitzer (www.smallscar.com) provides a lot of guidelines and samples.

I have not had surgery so I cannot offer any first-hand experience.

I am sure Tia will give you lots of advice and Dr S's site also.  I just wanted to let you know I did alot in my puree stage.  Shrimps, chili, chicken soup, chicken, turkey, I would cook it and then put it in the blender.

Good luck with eveything,.

You can do it!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Thanks everyone for the replies.  I went to my nutrition session last friday and it was kinda eh.  I got tons of papers with some very great info and other stuff was questionable.  I figure the best way to really know what to do is talk to people who have done it!

I will check out that website and hopefully something will catch my eye.  The nutrionist basically said you can puree anything and this food stage is only about texture so that kinda of meant to me well go ahead and puree a cheeseburger.  Not that I am going to do that but I guess I am looking for ideas of foods that taste good pureed.  The thought of doing baby food - meat especially makes me just rather do want to do a protein shake.  But I do want to learn how to eat right after surgery!

Ive gotten negative feedback from some peopel about the band and I want to prove to them it's a tool like any other bariatric surgery!

You all will be seeing LOTS more of me in the coming weeks!

Best
Nikki
