I am getting ready to go to my 6 month dr appt this morning. I already feel like a dissapointment to the dr and to myself. I totally don't feel like going. I have not quite met his goal for my weight loss and i know it's my fault. I have not been exercising like i am supposed to. I use to do it every day, then it just slowed down and stopped. Somebody please give me the kick in the butt that I need!!!!!

Seems to me that you've already given yourself a butt-kicking.

So you haven't reached "his" goal.  How much have you lost, if you don't mind my asking?

And more importantly, were you ever able to be this successful pre-op?

I appreciate the different attitudes that some of our surgeons have - some are more militant in their desire to see their patients succeed, but I also think it can be counter-productive.

Don't beat yourself up, take heart in your success thus far and try to get back on track.  We're here to help you do that, as you all have helped me!!!

I have lost about 77 lbs (according to my scales- I swear the dr scales are off by about 2-3 lbs!!) . I don't know what the average weight loss of most people is, but I feel like I should have lost more.  I know that I need to step it up and really be pro-active in my own weight loss.

I'll let you know how the appt goes.  Hopefully he is as gracious as you are. HEHE

I agree with Tia.....don't beat yourself up!!! You have accomplished many weight loss goal since surgery that I am sure that were not possible before surgery. Exercise.....I am guilty of the same thing,,,,,hit the ground running exercising and then tappered off. Today is a new day....exercise!!!!

77 lbs down in 6 months is AMAZING! As a %age of the total that you need to lose, you should calculate and see where you're at. I felt bad that I'd only lost 100 lbs in my almost 2 years but that's 83 percent of what I need to lose overall and I feel GOOD about that.

Jo...77 lbs is AMAZING!!  I appreciate doctor's wanting us to be successful but every person is different!  I'm with ya on the exercising thing and am about to pick myself back up and on the treadmill on a regular basis again.  Let's just say that the sagginess I'm experiencing is not pretty.  If I can fill it in with some muscle then I'm all for it!

Take care!
Heather
