They were much nicer about my weight loss, or lack there of, than I thought. They said that i had lost 54% of my excess weight and that was a good place to be.

But my doc wants me to lose a min of 30lbs by my 12 mos check up.  I really need to step up the excersize!!!

All in all my appt was not as scary as I thought it would be.  Thanks for all of the encouragement I recieved.  You guys are soooooo great!!!!

YAY!!!!  I've avoided going to DVR for the same reason - I skeered!!  And nothing about DVR is scary!!  In fact, I've even had someone run interference for me with him!!!  LOL!!  So I do understand.

You can do it!!  If you know the issue is exercise, then by all means, have at it.  You CAN do it!!!

Now I just need my hair to start growing back in!!!!    Is being bald in?  My hair may be long but  it's definitely  way too thin.  I've started to create shag carpet at home from all my hair loss!!!   My husband is complaining of finding hair in........well, everything.   I heard that it was supposed to stop or slow down by 6 mos out.  Is that true???    Give me some hope

Jo:

Congratulations on the good 6 month visit.  I fear the most is the hair loss as much as everyone else.  My hair is half way down my back and thick how ever it is very thin on top and I fear looking like an old man hippy ie bald on top and hair around the back. lol.

You can do that last 30 lbs in no time.

We are here for you

Jo - My hair loss started at about 3-4 months post-op and continued for 3-4 months.  Some people swear by Biotin supplements, but it did nothing for me.  Others use Nioxin haircare products.  I found the Pantene Restoratives line to be really good and have recommended it time and again.  Now I've switched back to the regular Pantene line.

It WILL stop, you will not go bald and your hubby will not always find hair in...everything!!!

My hair was/is really thin/fine to begin with, and my loss WAS noticeable.  However, stress can make it worse, so TRY not to stress.  My hair's now better than ever, according to my faithful hairdresser of 25 years!

I am so glad that your appointment went well. 54% at 6 months is amazing and you can do the 30 lbs by one year.  Sometimes you have to up your protein intake and shake up what you are doing to start losing again.

One thing I have learned while training to be a certified OH group leader is that we do not absorb all of the protein that we take in daily.  So if you eat  slice of cheese and it has 8 grams of protein the most your body will absorb is about 4 to 5 grams.  So the amount of protein you injest in a day has to be raised.  For example if you weigh 150lbs you have to take in half of that plus 10 more.  That  would be 85 grams a day.   Going back to basics will definitely wake up your body!

Good luck and know that you can reach your goal if you take control of your tool and use it!

Hugs,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Oh thats good on your loss. I worry about losing hair when I have the surgery. I am a freak about my hair. I am sure you will lose the weight and you and your Doc will be happy. Thanks for sharing in your good news..
