As far as the protein, i'm not taking in any at this time as you all know i'm like 10 days out..  although i got some EAS shakes, in the morn, i just can't take in anything from the fridge becuz the cold shocks my tummy and puts me in pain for a bit.  and, that goes for anything that i get from the fridge i.e., yogurt, pudding, drinks.  How long is this going to happen.

I keep my water out so that i can have it room temp. and in the morn after taking my Prevacid all i can get in is couple of ounces of Cream of wheat (with my Actigall sprinkled in)  and then my multi-vitamin (Centrum Silver Chewable) and then the most of the day is water w/crystal lite. I can also enjoy the cream soups in the eve becuz they are also warm products. I'd like to enjoy those SF pop. i hear you all talk about but the fear of the cold hurting my tummy keeps me away from them as well.

When i weighted myself when i got here from the hospital on Thursday, 7/30 i weighted in at 250; but i went it at 241 (guess that was all of their fluids they put in right?).  When i went to my first post op on Monday i was 234 and yesterday i was 231. So i suppose that means that i've lost 10 pounds of my own weight?????

I should have started my Calcium Caltrate +D this week, but still have to get that. Am i suffering a protein deficiency?  Where do i get the kind that you sprinkle on. I don't have any of the protein waters either.  I know i will get a way to get some soon, but am i in trouble already since i haven't been taking in any protein so far. DVR told me that i was not getting enough liquids when i went in on Monday and he doesn't want me to get Dehydrated and so i did up my water intake drastically, but i feel as though that is all i've done. i have my biner and i'm reading -- still feel like i'm just not doing this thing right out of the gate. Please help!

If you can get some protein bullets put them in your water -  they have between
25-40 grams per 3 ounce container. The brand name is Nu Whey ;  Vitamin
Shoppe sells them :  at this point it sounds like your best bet:  plus since you
are diluting it with water it will up the liquid intake as well!

Ahh, thank you Nessa!

Is the vitamin shoppe reasonably priced. I also need to get some Calcium Citrate +D. (i suppose in chewable form)  I know there is a GNC on the Pike and that they sell the Stackers Protein water and Isopure CarbZero (is that the right name - i'll have to check that) they sell in six packs or something. Should i compare prices and get back to you when i find out which is more preferable to my budget???

Thank you so much, i really do appreciate your offer -- you're an angel kiddo!

Might have to let the protein drinks warm up slightly - I had that problem with the "cold shock" factor, and I'm just a bander.

You sound like you're doing great otherwise!  I'm proud of ya!

And from what I can tell, many of the post ops struggle through the first month, and then it is all good to go from there!  Just make sure you drink and rest and drink and rest.

Oh sweety, you are only 10 days out. It will take time for your body to adjust and for you to get all the rules right. I am 1.5 years out and I still don't have them straight. There are days when I can barely get 20 oz of liquid in. Not saying you shouldn't try to get it right but don't beat up on yourself.

For the first 6 months or so, my protein intake depended largely on liquid protein supplement. Liquacel, 3 tablespoons gave me 48 gm of protein. Even now, there are days I can eat a whole breast of chicken; other days, when I am done after 2 bites. So, I still keep protein supplement at home.

The 10 lbs is awesome news. The first few weeks, it feels like you are melting away.

You just started an awesome new journey, stay patient with your body and your mind.
