well just checking in

been awhile, sorry no updates on me have been posted from me. been sick lots and losts of draingae coming from stapels, i actually stood over bathrooom vanity and let  the blood drain, so much it made me weak, doing good on sugar although i think its away too low 51 this morning, Ive found  can not tolerate anything but splenda now the others have a metallic taste , poor Ron , he just went and bought me some of the sugarfree pops like ya'll said to keep on hand, , im hoping it was just the grape. and seeing how the sw/lo was nasty and sugar wa so low i put a teaspoon of brown sugar in oats, did the trick..  . got doc apt tomorrow dont think i lost much only like 10 lbs but hey its a start, just showered catching up  on soaps

Grammom, Glad to see your post. Sorry you are having a rough time. From what I hear the 1st month is rough. I am glad you are going to see your Doc. Maybe you can get some answers from him and you will start to feel better soon. Take care and keep us posted..

    Sorry to hear you are having a rough time. I CAN sympathize with you tho.....I am just over a month out & I am just now starting to feel human again! It does get better!
 A few things you mentioned.....
    1} drinage frm your incision- I had my RNY open too.....never had alot of blood drainage tho. I had "melting fat" draining thru my stapleline. Keep an eye on it! I ended up with an open wound that I still have!

    2} Metallic taste- as Cira informed me that is ketosis! It does get better too!

    3} sugar subs- I still have trouble! Just keep trying......for me, it varies day to day.

I am os sorry you are having a hard time with your incision.  I hope all is well and keep an eye on it so you don't end up with an infection. 

I am sorry your sugar is low. Are you off your meds for the diabetes? If not call your doc to let him know asap.

Take care and take it one day at a time it will get better. I promise.

Helen, I'm so glad you are doing well.  Do you have drains?  Hang in there, every day is better than the last!  Your sugar is definitely too low.  Talk to your doc about that Thursday.  My diabetes was completely resolved with my surgery.  Don't worry about only losing 10 pounds so far because you are still probably full of the fluid they pumped into you!  Keep up the good work and welcome to the bench sweetie!

Hi Helen!  Sorry to hear that you are not feeling that well. Having VSG open vs laparoscopic is a whole different animal. I know with your positive attitude and determination, you will be 100% in no time! I hope you still have my #, if you don't you can PM me, so we can figure out a way to get you the protein powder!
