This is Scarey

Good Morning fellow OH'rs

I had a scarey thing happen yesterday on my way home from work. My bf Zell had to pick my up on the motorcycle because our truck was still in the shop.  That said, I was fine the whole trip until we got about a mile from home.  I began to get nauseas, light headed and dizzy and then my arms and hands started tingling and going into a spasm.  Zell pulled into the driveway and as I got off the cycle my hands contorted and I had trouble speaking because my tongue was numb and I could not move it.  I laid down on the lawn for a few moments the got up and Zell wanted to know if he should get me to a hospital.  I tried to talk but it was difficult.  I started walking and he took the cycle to the house and came back for me.  In the mean time I kept moving my mouth, tounge and trying to speak.  It finally passed after we had dinner I was extreemly tired and had a headache.  Taking my evening meds I was in bed and asleep before 8 pm.

This morning I woke up feeling fine, only after effects were in the bathroom ie the runs.

This is the second time this has happened in 6 months the first time was when I had my auto accident back in February.

Was this a silent migraine? TIA? panic attack?
interaction of medications for the many co morbidities ie diabetes, cholestoral and peripheral artery disease, high blood pressure?

Any one have any ideas?

I have made an appointment with my PCP for Tuesday of next week after work.

Lori ,

how scary for you!

I have no idea what it was but I am very glad you are seeing the doctor.  was Tuesday the soonest appointment you could get?

truthfully if it was me I'd have called an ambulance.

Nessa:
Thank you for your concern and Yes it was scarey, very scarey. I thought about the ambulance but thought if it was passing I would be ok.  Zell and I did talk about it and decided that if it were to happen again no questions asked just get me to a hospital and Franklin Square is only 3 miles away.

All will be fine

Well I'm glad to hear that there is a plan for if it happens again.  That's always a good thing!

That was your 2nd episode like you had last night? Did you mention the 1st episode to your Dr? In any event, I am glad you are finally going, he/she will probably order some tests so they can get to the bottom of this. Take things slow for a couple of days and get rest!!! Let us know how Tues. goes. Good luck and feel better! Leslie:)

I have no clue, but I hope you find the answers so it doesn't happen again!

I only have 'regular' or 'visual' migraines - the visual ones are where my vision becomes like a kaleidoscope and I get a bit dizzy. Can't walk without holding onto someone as I can't see thru all the colors.

Angie, have you ever had an ocular migraine?  I think that is what I've had.  The first time I had it I was scared to death!  It's like when you look at the sun and then you have a spot where you can't see anything, but for me it's a dark spot where there is no vision and it's just in one eye.  My Mom has had the kaleidosope thing and it's scary too.  Definitely a type of migraine.

Yes, I've had that as well as the kaleidoscope one.  The first time either ever occurred, we were in Lowes looking at lamps.   I do my best now to not look directly into any light unless I have no other choice.  Freaked me the hell out, that's for sure!  And then the first time it happened my DH thought I was playing with him.  Took him a while to believe me as so few people have ever heard of such a thing.  fortunately he's been around when I've had them (I think 4 total in the past 5 years) because I need help getting around obstacles if I'm walking.

That is so scary Lori!!  please get your pcp to refer you to a neurologist asap. It definitely doesn't sound anything to do with a migrain.  It sounds more like a TIA or something neurological.  With aa TIA if you get some tests done like an ECG, doppler, CT scan,  echocardiogram maybe they can find to see if you had a stroke. Please get checked out asap if this is your second episode.
I eally suggest you get seen sooner.

I hope you are feeling better today.

Hugs,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
