So, the hubby and I are going camping with another couple friend next month at Rocky Gap. I have some dieas for food to take - hotdogs, canned chili, smores stuff. What do you guys do for food? It's a 3 night 2 day camping trip. I don't want to have to buy too many supplies there.

Give me ideas :) We have a propane stove and we'll do campfires.

Camping?  The only idea I have for camping is for me to go to a hotel!!  But you have fun with that!!!

To be extra helpful - cause I'm that way - I DID look up campfire recipes on:

Sylvie, We camp almost every weekend but have an RV. I do use my ice chest for salad mix and I always have canned tuna on hand as well as nuts nuts and plenty of fruits. I also like to make chili and have like a taco salad night. You can use an older pot over the fire and that is so of the best chili I have ever had .I guess it is since it is slow cooked over an open fire. I must say we are spoiled by having a microwave in the RV. My son and his girlfriend tent camp as well and she cooks chicken breasts before she leaves and then heats them over the fire in one of those cheap disposable aluminum pans. We also do alot of foil pouch cooking where you add meat and veggies and cook over the fire on a grate. You can buy a grate cheap to take with you just in case they don't have one. Good Luck,

Anything you can cook in an RV kitchen you can cook in a campfire or camping stove!  That's how the pioneers did it...even CAKE!

Revised to VSG (6/11/09) weighing 253...
