Good Morning Maryland and surrounding states!

Well since no one started  it yet... here we be.

Made it to the end of another work week.

Yay!

Lunch yesterday was fabulous.  Neither of our husbands actually had ever seen the Maryland State Police Barracks  (while knowing what it was) so we pointed it out to them.  I'm so sad the Backfin closed.

Jilly's was nice but it's not  BIG person friendly.  all the chairs have arms...  but the food was good... and the company divine.   I got to meet Angie's husband finally.  Odd really since we work in the same building.... He's a very nice guy.  I hope we get to see him more!   Missed Sylvie at our lunch yesterday but she has been swamped at work.

So we figure NEXT THURSDAY the lunch bunch can do Catonsville or a bit past that....  I'm open to suggestions.  I love flexibility.

I did not come back to work after lunch (took leave)  and spent the afternoon with my husband.

We went to BJs (I know how romantic) and got stuff for him for his trip.  He's going to Lancaster for a gaming convention on Monday so I'm free ALL week.  (well not all week Tuesday night is dinner with my dad and all three kids).

We've finally announced the open house for August 15th.  I hope folks come!  It's our last BBQ of the summer since Brian is most likely having surgery a few days later  ****il the BC/BS auth comes through I don't want to announce actual dates).  We love to open our home to our friends (and even our enemies cause it' makes it so much more interesting that way)

Anyway today is a good day.  I got to work at 7 and I can leave at 3:30 but I'll probably stay a bit longer and do some credit.

Weekend plans are:
dog training on Saturday morning
gaming and dinner at our house Saturday night (all are welcome to join us)
Sunday--lunch with a friend...

so what's up in your neck  of the woods????

hey nessa sounds like you have alot of plans in the works. are you both you and brian being approved at the same time but he will go first? how you guys working it? how do your friends feel now that it is becoming more of a reality? I know when I was there, they didn't seem all that supportive of the idea.

well i have some plans for the weekend though nothing too exciting. I may spend some time with my little sister ashley. she is 18 now so out of the big brother program but we still spend time together. if she hasn't seen the latest harry potter, hopefully we can do that in imax. love imax theaters.

Morning Nicole,

we are both at the INS CO now for authorization.  We don't need pre-cert.  it's very confusing to me.  The practice requested dates one week apart for us but we are looking at 5 weeks apart for surgery with Brian going first.

There are so many reasons for that.

1. Brian is supposed to return to work on 8/31 (the first day of school)  If all goes well he won't need to take time off from work for recovery which is good since he has no sick leave.

2. He asked to go first and I'm fine with that.  It gives me time to build more leave.  While I don't need to be off much more than 2 weeks I'm sure,  I plan to take 4-6 weeks. part of it to be spent in Florida with my BFF.

as for support... you've met our closest friends... it's hard for them to be supportive.   They talk a good game and I'm sure they will survive and it won't wreck the friendships but to be honest,  we'll be the only ones who have done this.  And health wise at this point we are the ones who need it the least.  But that's another story.

the MOST supportive person for me so far is my BFF who is thin and always has been.  but then she doesn't notice when i lose or gain weight till it's a huge amount.  Cause she does not care about my size....

have a great time with your little sister.   I'm glad you don't feel that formal participation in the program is necessary for continued contact.

I understand about your friend's health. I am hoping seeing you become more healthy will help them see the benefit of doing this. I am most concerned for the lady with diabetes. Sounds like it is not under control AT ALL. I will hope for the best for all of them. You just keep doing what you need to do for yourself and for your husband.

what part of florida are you going to?

Both Amy and Michele have diabetes.  Michele's sister had  RNY about 6 years ago and has done very very well with it.   Michele gives the argument that she's not disciplined enough to do what her sister does but I pointed out that I would not be doing what her sister does either that every one is different.   Oh well you can lead a horse to water....

BFF has a house in Tampa  that we will drive to.   We plan to drive in her van and stop every hour for potty and walk.  then we plan to go to the pool every day in Tampa and also to walk at the mall every day... spend about a week down there and then drive back...

I am sitting here smiling - thinking about your comment about the chairs with arms. Someday in the future, you and Brian will have a wonderful moment when the type of seats, including booths, at a restaurant no longer matter. It will be a fabulous feeling! Because of my size, I used to even be worried about the strength of some chairs. I still catch myself to this day, testing a chair to make sure it feels sturdy. I guess some habits die hard! LOL!

Glad you all had a good time!

Thanks Debbie.

I am sure that will happen.

I guess part of the thing for me is that I've been thin.  I was thin as a kid.  I was thin as a young adult. I've lost weight and been thin before.  So I know the joys awaiting me and I will gladly wait for them.

Brian has NEVER been thin.  I'm so excited for him.
