Newbie Surgery Monday !!!!!!!
Hi and welcome!!!
Congrats on your upcoming surgery! It'll be here before you know it. As far as the days leading up to surgery, you may find that your emotions are all over the place - it's actually normal to be scared, nervous, excited, etc. But you're doing a wonderful thing for yourself; my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.
As far as post-op, make sure you walk as soon as they get you up, and walk frequently. It will help with any gas issues after surgery. Also, it's important to constantly sip once they give you the go-ahead, so get in the habit of keeping a water bottle with you.
If you haven't bought protein shakes, bars, etc., I wouldn't buy a LOT right now, because it's common for your tastes/sense of smell to change somewhat after wls. You don't want to have a lot of stuff you can't use or can't stand the taste of.
Someone's always on the board, and we're always ready to lend a hand, so give a yell if you need anything!
Hugs,
Tia

Hello! Welcome to the board and congratulations on your upcoming surgery! You will find this board to be a tremendous resource. I did not discover it until I was several months post-op and it would have been so helpful to have known sooner. Besides what you have already been told, I find it is helpful to constantly stay connected with a support system, whether that is family, friends, support groups, or all of these.
Best Wishes!

Hi and welcome to the Md forum! I know you are so excited with a little bit of nervous on the side. Believe me, this surgery is a piece of cake, I had VSG in Feb,and I would do it again tomorrow if I needed to. In the beginning the only advice I can think of (besides what Tia already said) make sure you have the juices you like at home ready for you, Regular juice with sugar, no sugar free for the first 3 days which is called the juice party! You can have Popsicles, jello and anything else you can think of made of juice. So good luck, I'm sending positive thoughts your way, and I will remember you in my prayers;. You now have a big, diversified family in the OH forum! Keep us posted!!! Leslie:)
