Biography Hien T. Nguyen, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After completing his undergraduate education at University of California, Davis, Dr. Nguyen earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at University of California, Davis School of Medicine. He received his general surgery training at University of California, San Francisco East Bay. Afterwards, he completed a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Nguyen is a Board Certified General Surgeon as well as a specialist in the field of single incision surgery, natural orifice surgery, robotic surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery such as the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, adjustable gastric bands, sleeve gastrectomy and duodenal switch. He was instrumental in helping to establish single incision approach for laparoscopic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. Dr. Nguyen is currently an active member of many academic organizations including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. His research interest includes clinical outcomes in bariatric surgery, metabolic syndrome, laparoscopic equipment design and surgical education. |
