HELEN/GRAMMOM UPDATE
I've been trying to get her all morning, but she said the pain meds knock her out. Aaron did talk to her and she said she's in a ton of pain today and NOT on a pain pump!!! OMG!!!
She's been walking and sipping, and if she's still in pain tomorrow, she'll probably come home on Friday.
He didn't mention the fever, so I guess it's gone. If I talk to her or see her, I'll let you all know!
BTW, I also called St. Agnes to try to track down Carol, but was unable to, partly because of HIPAA regs, which is understandable. I called Ranesa, hoping she could help, but that lucky duck's on vacay this week. Here's hoping she made it through uneventfully!
Thanks,
Tia

No Matter How I May Change, I Will Still Be ME!!!!
Yep...you are certifiable!!
Even the morphine pump didn't totally take my pain away. I kept hitting the button and hitting the button. If all it did was make me sleep I was happy! Of course, the nurse in recovery yelled at me for sleeping and not hitting the pain button when I complained of pain. At that point I didn't even know I had the pump! This is the same genius that told me to SUCK the water out of the sponge things instead of just wetting my mouth...ummmm....HELLOOOO...makes you wonder how people get and keep their jobs, I tell ya!
Well, I hope she resolves her pain issues and gets some GOOD drugs! Dilaudid is pretty good if you get the right dosage!

Welcome back Tia! I am glad that you had a good time, and you should of had pretty good weather also. It's always nice to go away with family, and even nicer to all make it home in 1 piece! I feel so bad for Helen, she really has a tough road, especially with no pain pump! That's bordering on abuse! Believe me, I can remember my pump as if it was yesterday, and I had zero pain! If you see her tell her, I am thinking about her,and she's in my prayers. Thanks, Leslie:)
Hi Les!!
Thanks, we had a great time!!! The weather was good for most of the week, and the one day it really wasn't, Boxer Heather came down and we went shopping with my Mom - so it was a win-win!!!
I feel bad for Helen, too, and know she's still got a rough road ahead with an open recovery. I had my gallbladder removed open, and the recovery is still imprinted on my mind - 17 years later!!!!
I'll pass along your good thoughts!
Hugs,
Tia

Well she is a trooper. she knows that with open procedures there's going to be lots of pain. She never had a pain pump. Instead the nurses come in every so often to give her pain meds. I was dumbfounded when she told me that. of course she was talking to me about 30 minutes after her last dose of pain meds so she was a bit slurry ;) As many of you know with open procedures, they cut through the abdominal wall and all those muscles. She's going to have pain for a good while before all that heals. I'm just so happy to be her angle :)
