Uh oh...  I would get in to see your PCP NOW... and then when it comes time for the next glucose test stop all food and sugarly liquids at far before as you can... and then make sure it is fasting for at least 12 hours...

Oh dear!

348 is quite high.  Were you fasting when you took your labs?  Definitely call your PC immediately.  Finger sticks are easy - they use a lancet on your finger and you don't feel a thing.

I imagine if they get it down under 200 you'll be fine.  80 to 110 is normal for fasting - 140 to 160 is ok 2 hours after a meal.

My PCP doesn't worry about me unless I'm up over 200.

Sending good thoughts your way.  I find that stress causes my glucose levels to rise big time.

Stress can really hike your numbers, too. Mine were in the mid/upper 200s the entire week before surgery, and on the morning of, 306. My surgeon didn't blink about it--and I'm fine.

I'll hold a good thought that you will be, too.

wow, I heard in some parts of Europe they are performing/authorizing  gastric bypass surgery for obese AND non-obese people who have hi blood sugars/Insulin dependent diabetics.... somehow it's a nearly immediate cure for IDDM--- and in the end- much less expense than the costs of years of progressive diabetic issues.
