Passed my psych clearance!

That's one more thing down.

Before Dr. S can submit to insurance, I need an EKG, and upper endoscopy, and a letter of medical neccessity from my primary.  Oh, and a sleep study.  And I have to finish my 6 mo supervised diet - the last visit for that is on Aug. 4. 

I am really hoping I can get the endo, EKG/primary visit, and sleep study done before mid-August.  I suspect that once I get authorization, my date is going to be a couple months out from there. The primary visit for the letter and EKG will be easy enough, but the endoscopy is probably going to require me to take off work, at least a half day (if I can schedule it for an afternoon and go to work in the morning).  The sleep study I probably won't need to take off for since, well...it's at night!

I just started a new job this past Wednesday, so I really and trying to avoid taking time off since I will be taking two weeks off whenever I have my surgery.  And I am a contractor, so I don't get PTO.  And I don't wanna get a rep as that person who takes off all the time, you know?

Congrats!  it will go quickly...  good luck with scheduling the appointments.  that was the biggest pain for us.

Kelly (?) it seems like you are on the fast track to WLS.  Once you get your appointments made it really goes quick.  I got all freaked out with the endoscopy. I really don't like being put to sleep, especially for a test. I asked my Dr. if there was another test I could do,and she let me do a barium swallow. The barium tastes so nasty but the actual test is less than 30 min. If you know you have a hernia, you will have to stay with the endoscopy. Anyway, it never hurts to ask,and then you will miss no time from work. I think I had the swallow and my chest x- ray @ 7am. The sleep study you can do on Fri or sat night. I wish you luck, sometimes it can seem overwhelming, but all you have to do is post to your friends here on the Md site. The people here are great and very helpful. Keep us posted! Leslie:)

I was going to tell you the same thing that Leslie did...that most sleep study places will do them on the weekend.  Whatever day you do it, be prepared to be TIRED the next day.  Most people get very little restful sleep during the study. 

I hope you get it all in and done quickly so that you can get everything submitted!!  Do you have to wait until after your last supervised diet visit to get them done?  If not, I'd get it all done in the next few weeks so that the visit is the last piece in the puzzle.

Purplekelly I must agree the sleep study should be called the NO SLEEP STUDY.. I did not sleep and the next day I was wiped out. I do wish you luck and continued sucess on your weight loss journey. There are some sweet people her and they have alot of answers and are a great deal of help in this process..

Thanks everyone!  I have the appt for the EKG with my primary on Wednesday at 5:30pm, and I should get a copy of the letter of medical neccessity then. 

The sleep study people are supposed to call me tomorrow.  I called them today and the doc was stilll reviewing my file or something.

I don't think Dr. S will accept a barium swallow since I have a history of ulcers...have to do the endocscopy.  Meh.  I called them today too, and they are scheduling in OCTOBER for people who have to have an anesthesiologist present!  No way!  But they are trying to get one in for a day in August, so she took my info to call me about that.  Fingers crossed!
