Hi All - I post a bit and read a lot of this board....just curious about something - seems like there are a ton of folks here that are with Dr. Van Rueden, but hardly ANy who work(ed) with Dr. Moeinolmolki at GMBC - which seems odd since it is in a central location in MD.  Anyone else here with Dr. Moe?  What do/did you think?  How is/was your experience?  That is who I am seeing and I am always looking for more info!

Cheers, and Happy Friday!

While I am Dr. von Rueden's patient, my surgery took place when he was still at GBMC with Dr. Moe. I was rehospitalized after my surgery due to dehydration and a heart rhythm issue which was not related to my WLS. This was Thanksgiving weekend and Dr. Moe was the MD on call and visited me each day for Dr. von Rueden. I found him to be very patient. He took the time to listen to all of my questions and answer each one thoroughly.  One time I spoke to someone who had Dr. Moe when he was first in the practice and did not like his bedside manner at all. I think he has learned / become more seasoned since then and is much better. There a number of folks here who have had Dr. Moe. Hopefully, they will add their impressions for you.

I'm a patient of Dr. Mo, 18 months post-op. I can't say enough good things about him. My experiences were all positive. My surgery and recover were completely incident free. My recover was fast, and my weight loss was pretty fast too. Dr. Mo was quiet pre-op, but at the hospital he was very involved in my care. I saw him 2-3 times a day. If you have specific questions, PM me. I don't check OH every day, but will answer any questions I can. I think you've made a great choice!
Hugs!

Hi Mare,

I had Dr. Von Rueden as my surgeon 28 months ago at the time he was partner with Dr. Moe at GBMC.  I had some complications and ended back in the hospital.  I have to say that Dr. Moe came to care for me when DVR had gone home from his shift and he was caring, and very attentive to my needs.  At one point I was very sick barely able to breathe and I was surprised when he stood by me and passed his had on my head a few times and promised me that he and Dr. Von Rueden was going to make me feel better soon. He made me feel comfortable and confident in his care. That meant a lot to me because you rarely see a doctor show compassion in that way.  I think you have done an excellent choice with Dr. Moe.  There are many others that has used him and hopefully they will chime in soon.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Dr. Moein did my lap band.  Love him!  His office is getting better, but they were going through a huge transition when DVR left.  After that, Dr. Moein was always backed up, and some of the first staff members were "difficult," but I think he's gotten a good staff together now, and there is another surgeon in the office now as well. Also, Dr. Moein is a general surgeon, not just a bariatric surgeon, and has other patients, can do other surgeries.  For instance, if you should need a cholecystectomy after your weight loss, he'd be your man.  He does, however, try to make sure that if you still have a gallbladder, you get to keep it, but placing you on meds to help avoid gallstones due to the rapid weight loss.  I have never met with his nutritionist as Sloane was still there when I went through that phase.

He's extremely competent, patient, willing to give you the time to answer when he asks you a question; actually asks if there is anything you'd like to discuss, questions to ask, before he finishes the visit and... he's quite the snazzy dresser!

I had surgery on July 14 and Dr. Moe was my surgeon.  I am so happy I found him.  He was the third surgeon I consulted.  Everything went great.  I feel great.  No pain.  No nausea.  He is so kind and caring.  My daughter is an RN and she can't get over how nice this guy is.  And every single person I came in contact with at GBMC was just wonderful.  I never met such a great bunch of people.  I kid you not.  Maybe it's the program fee?  The other places I checked out didn't require it.  Heck I'd have paid it twice! to have Dr. Moe.  Check out my blog for more.  Joanna
