Liver Cysts?

Hi All - Been super busy lately getting all of my pre-op testing done....Friday was the last of it, I hope, with the Abdominal Ultrasound.  Certain times during the test, I could see the screen and the form the tech was typing on as she found and measured my liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc (no gallbladder or appendix - had those two hauled out when I was all of 19!) and although I survised the test (honestly it was pretty painful - I mean, do you really have to jam me SO HARDd with that thing???) I am a bit concerned as I saw her type stuff like "? LIVER CYST" and then put dimensions or location info from that particular image.  She must have done that four or five times!!!  Anytime I could see the screen it all looked like mush to me - I can't see a damn thing - but all the "? LIVER CYST" notes are freaking me out just a bit.  My liver lab work is and has always been normal.  Anyone else have any experience with this?

Btw, I have my final appt with Dr. Moe on 8/20!  Then I get a date, although I'm putting my money on 10/12 - I'm on vacation a lot in September - no time!

Cheerios!

I did a quick search on the web for "liver cysts". Although I had never heard of this before, it apparently can happen. Most of the time, it is nothing and/or does not even need treatment. Rarely it can be a symptom of something more. You can do this same search and read the details. Bottom line, I would not get overly alarmed at this point, particularly if you do not experience symptoms. Your surgeon wants this information so that he is fully prepared for any issues during surgery - no surprises.

It is very easy to become alarmed with all of the medical stuff. I admit, I would probably have reacted the same as you. Most of the time, it is all explainable / nothing serious. Breathe and ask your MD about it.

Wishing you all the best.
