A LITTLE AFRAID.....
I don't get skeered of food often, but I'm especially apprehensive about going to the beach.
Not so much at the house - I'm taking yogurt and protein shakes and we'll have plenty of fruits, veggies and protein selections, but the Boardwalk!!! YIKES!!!
Just the thought of being assaulted by all the smells!! I don't want to undo the little bit of good I've done this week.
I mean, breakfast out some mornings - although it wouldn't be anything more elaborate than a BLT, french fries - again, I can only taste a few, a kid size scoop of ice cream - although we will go to Rita's, where I can enjoy a s/f ice or I can get a Slurpee, pizza - again, I can only eat a piece of two, but you get the picture. When it's lunch or dinner, I try to make really good choices - I was never much for fried seafood anyway, but let's not forget the donuts!!! And I can't/won't say, "Don't bring it in the house," because that's not fair to the others, especially B, who would sell his sister for a chocolate donut with sprinkles. And that's to say nothing of The Fractured Prune, where you can watch warm donuts dipped in the toppings of your choice!!! ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!
What's a girl to do??? I'm appalled now at the way I see people eat at the beach. I remember, as Darla remembers, just eating my way down the boardwalk, and just the sheer volume of the food I see people consume, as if they're never going to eat again, sickens me.
Of course, hopefully, we'll be active while we're there, I'm just kind of stressing ahead of time.
Thoughts?

TIA girl you've been an insperation for many of us and I know you can kick the food thing in the butt!!! Yes the smell and all is going to be tough but just smile and think, of how far you have come and how you keep us up and going you can whip the insults of the smells and savor them instead as some of the demons which got us here in the first place so buckel up and go have a great time at the beach sweetie
Thank you, love!! It's true that my pouch restriction will keep it somewhat in check, so I'll just have to stay strong!!!
In the past, I could walk down the boardwalk, get a whole medium Thrasher's fries myself, a slice of pizza, a chicken drumstick, some cotton candy, ice cream, water ice, popcorn, etc., and STILL find myself rooting in the cupboards when we got home.
It's frustrating and scary, so I appreciate that you can understand this. I'm looking forward to watching you experience this journey.
Hugs,
T

I generally have the toppings and cheese off the pizzas - leaving the bread behind. So, I say that you can have crustless pizza!!!!!
Donuts? If you gotta have one - you'll be walking/sweating it off at the beach......
Who knows- maybe you'll actually lose more pounds while you're away at the beach!
Don't stress - just enjoy yourself!!!!!

My suiggestion ??? ... get braces .. will do wonders for what goes into your mouth ... LMAO ..
Seriously, I do understand completely. I am one of the truly 'fortunate' ones I think with my pouch. Even at 5 plus years post op I have a lot of restriction so my quantities are very limited. My problem is more related to poor choices! Since I have issues with 'density' I have developed some bad habits, that I have been reconquering since the braces went on the teeth! Now, lets hope that in 17 to 23 months when the braces come off .. those habits don't come back.
Have a wonderful time at the beach!
Hugs & smoochies,
Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
