Hi Md Board
Hey Pennie:
Welcome to the MD board. I had lap RNY with Dr. Kligman at University of MD in Baltimore 14 months ago. So far I am down about 135 lbs and have another 24 to go to meet my goal. Let me know if I can help you with any questions that you may have.

Welcome to the MD board there are some great people here and lots of advice. Take it all in and jump in and post. I have not did any surgery yet but am planning on seeing a Doc in Balt. by the name of Dr. Li. I hear she is great. I also have heard so many say you will know what doc is right for you when you meet them. Good luck and welcome.

Welcome Pennie, I made a decision to have WLS in Nov. I went on my consultation in mid Jan, and had VSG 2-24-09. My surgeon was Dr Li over at Sinai Hospital in Balto. I definitely made the right decision for myself by picking the sleeve, and especially picking Dr Li. I had my surgery laparoscopic, and really I couldn't be happier! If you have any ??? just ask. And don't worry about opinions we all will give you those whether we are asked or not. On this site we give those free of charge! LOL Good luck with your fact finding mission, remember you will know when it is right! Leslie:)
Hi Pennie,
I am 5 plus years post-op. I had open RNY in March 2004 with Dr Sofronski (Delmarva Bariatrics) in Salisbury. At the time I had my RNY I was only patient #125 or so in Dr S's practice. He's gone on to expand his practice tremendously and concentrate more on banding rather than RNY. He runs a tight ship in terms of support group / excercise and post op care. I live in the Annapolis area, but it was definitely worth it for me to travel to Salisbury for him when I did.
Best wishes on your journey!
Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
