Oatmeal?

I just had a fill back in June - and I'm steadily losing weight.  I won't go back for an adjustment until I hit a stall that lasts longer than 2 weeks.    That seems to be my telling moment.  I am now halfway full on my band - I have a 10 cc band and have 5 cc's in it.

Oatmeal just didn't stick so I'm just going to experiment with it - but usually I just have a protein shake for breakfast to make sure I have breakfast.

Actually, I just may take the oatmeal home, and have it for dessert on my late nights in from my 2nd job.  Last night would have been perfect, since I got home at 1145 PM.

I just don't want to get burned out on the scrambled eggs - and when I shop for food, it's mostly meat; so I am thinking ....hmmm.....corned beef hash or those JImmy Dean Skillets, oh yeah, scrapple!

That reminds me - I need to send AmusedOne a message - there was a PA neighborhood market that had great homemade scrapple - I'll have to find out if they are still in business......

I am not sure why scrapple would be a no-no - granted it's high in fat.  I'm thinking I'm allowed to splurge once in a blue moon.  It does have protein  GRIN

Well - My friend Tony is gonna season my two chicken thighs that I had left over from yesterday's lunch.  I love Mr. Chachere - has anyone tried him?

Have you tried Kashi oatmeal?  I love this one:

I usually add a half of a banana, sliced into thin slices, so I can have a bite of banana with each bite of banana.  I went through a phase where I was having a packet of this oatmeal for a morning snack around 9:30/10:00 am most workday mornings.  Now I'm kind of burned out on it, but I still have a box in my pantry.  I'll eat it again soon

That looks delicious but I'm worried about the sugars - there's 6 grams of sugar in one serving?  YIKES!

But you know what, I'll try a banana and see if that works in the next round of oatmeal.  That sounds like a great thing to do.

I haven't been thinking outside of the box for quite some time that I'm a sitting duck for Tia instead of a moving target  LOL

Forgot you aren't as far out as I am... so you may not be able to tolerate 6gm of sugar in one sitting/packet of oatmeal.  Sorry

I liked the vanilla oatmeal plain in the beginning...but then it was too bland.  So that's why I was adding a half of banana - partly for flavor, partly for texture.

I can tolerate sugar - I'm a bander.  I jus****ch the sugars for the sake of carbs.

I will agree that as we go through our journey - our tastes change.  Suddenly, I've got Tony Chachere on literally everything that should be seasoned.

Candy,

I was told that the best oatmeal is steel cut oats and then old fashioned Rolled Oats are good. It was explained to me that the more processed a food is the easier it is to digest.  the Weight Control  oatmeal is Instant so it probably digests faster.

I used to make them in the microwave with half water half milk and add nuts and dried fruit. took 5 minutes and then i took it to work to reheat and eat.  It kept me very full when I was doing South Beach.

I was just going to mention steel cut oats.  McCann's has one thats a quick cooking steel cut irish oats.  I had about a cup this morning and was quite full.  I think one cup has 26 carbs and 4 proteins.  I add some SweetzFree to it to sweeten it a bit, sometimes blueberries too.

I make several days worth at once and put it in the fridge, 'cut' out what I want and re-heat it in the microwave with some water or milk.

Yes, this keeps you fuller longer as it's not as processed. Kinda like white vs wheat bread...the wheat is healthier due to less processing, more fiber.
