WHAT......?
As a child, what games/activities did you participate in during your summer break?
We rode bikes (we had an alley - KB don't even KNOW what an alley is! LOL), blockball, dodgeball, hide and seek at night, catching fireflies, playing in the sprinkler, squirting each other with the garden hose, etc.
How did YOU spend your summer?

Oh Tia you are making me feel so old.. We loved to ride bikes and I loved to roller skate and I had the metal skates with the metal key around my neck. We also made tents on our fences with blankets and clothespins. One Mom would make Kool-Aid and another Mom would get chips and another make sandwhiches. We would play hopscotch, kickball, Hide and seek, dodgeball and play in the sprinkler. We loved water balloon fights too. I am amazed how we survived without video games.

We caught fire flies - swam whenever we were near a pool - which wasn't often, played in the rain, went to the farmer's garden and stole fruits and vegetables that we ate on the way home, and went "hiking" in the neighboring woods. Every summer for two weeks, we'd go somewhere out of town, and it was usually the campground resorts that we went to.
Since the Statute of Limitations has passed..............
He had a large grape vine that went for yards, and had these grapes that were almost black and had dark tough skin with light green pulp and seeds in them - I have found these kinds of grapes occasionally in the store but keep forgetting what they are.
He also had a strawberry patch that was down in several ditches. He grew turnips, corn, tomatoes, watermelons, pumpkins and green peppers - has anyone ever tried eating a turnip raw? LOL!
Aside from the water in the hose tasting like rubber - it was the bes****er because it was ice cold and felt good going down a parched throat during a hot day.
