I haven't attended a mandatory support group meeting so Rose called me but won't

I had no idea that they would mess with my date over the Meeting.

I mean, i even asked Barb to just go ahead and give me a date and that i will be at the meeting July 7th.  Rose said no the policy is have to attend one meeting b4 you can be scheduled.

And of course, Barb followed with the same. 

That's so bogus, i told Barb that i want to be scheduled end of july first of August. She said that they are booked for july so she's booking first of august now.

I think that it will be so unfair if i end up getting a date for late august or something crazy like that just because they don't trust me to attend one meeting so they won't go ahead and give me a date.

I'm really p****d about that!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, you've complied with everything else, so I'm not sure I see the big deal.  Did you have to attend an info session before you could even see DVR for the initial consult?  I did.

You're SO close and you've GOT approval - do you know how many people would KILL to be where you are now?

Just try to keep it all in perspective - I know the wait is tough, but eventually, ALL of this will be a distant memory.

I'm not sure I would be pissed.  I think that part of DVR's plan is that we learn compliance.  I know I'm not thrilled about this having to lose weight thing... but it's part of the deal I got when I signed on with him.

When you agreed to work with him the steps needed to comply were outlined.   You knew about it back then right?

It seemed dumb to me to attend a support group in May when I knew I would not be seeing surgery before September.  But I did it.   and I made my hubby do it.  now we have pretty much everything done.

What you need to do is be grateful that your approval was not on July 8th and then you would have to wait an entire month for the next meeting.  All you have to do is wait till Tuesday.

DVR  has always had this policy.  When I was getting ready for mine I was reminded back then which was another nurse at the the time that If I didn't attend a support group meeting I was not getting a surgery date. 
One thing I have learned through this journey is to be compliant.  This is a very serious desicion that we have made. If we don't follow every step in the beginning the way we should chances are that we will not be compliant after having surgery. 

DVR is a fantastic doctor. I recommend him to anyone.  I just recently became very ill and I called DVR he had me directly admitted to St. Agnes and even though he was leaving that very nextday to a week long medical conference thing in Texas, he came to see me Sunday morning just a few hours before leaving. The surgery resident asked him in front of me what are you doing here? Are you suppose to be on your way to Texas he said yes but I was not leaving before seeing my patient. He is an excellent doctor that is caring and very supportive. Even if he doesn't attend the support group meetings like before he is there for us at any time we need him. 

Enjoy the support group meeting they are very informative and important for our success.
