Soy and Thyroid

I've heard that you should not eat soy products if you have thyroid issues and/or too much soy can cause low thyroid hormone production.  I've been hypothyroid since a young child..  Anywho, I was sitting here thinking. After WLS you can't eat huge quantities of anything, let alone soy products.  Would you think the benefits of eating soy products would outweigh the "possibilty" of it having adverse affects on the thyroid?

This just popped into my head when I saw Heather's post on dry roasted edamame, which sounds delish!

p.s. no, my peer to peer review has STILL not happened yet. I'm about to go postal.

Lisa, when in doubt, ask your doc!  The thyroid is NOTHING to mess with.  I assume you see an endocrinologist for it?

Revised to VSG (6/11/09) weighing 253...

Yep, of course. I'll have to ask her at my next visit.

Lisa, I think of you every day. Any update on the peer to peer review?
