Leaving ICU.....

Well after I posted the other night, I was taken to ICU. My heart rate was elevated, and then I ended up very neasueated. Well, I am leaving ICU now.........all better! I had a CT scan yesterday & a leak test today with positive results......I FINALLY got the go a head for liquids!!!!!! I cant believe its Monday & I havent had anything to eat or drink since Thursday night! its almost scarey! I finished my first 30mL of water.....Jeez It was PURE HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow Heather,

I am sure you was a bit scared. I am glad you are doing well and on your way to recovery.

So glad you are better , I hope you continue to improve, I can not imagine how bad it must have been waiting for  a drink that long.

Not to change the subject or anything... But am I the only one who never heard of this 30ml thing?  I never had to measure anything...  but both of my friends who had surgery (one in York, one in Pittsburgh) had to measure out 30ml and drink that every 15 minutes...  I never measured, no one asked me if I even drank anything the entire time I was in the hospital!

Angie, for both of my surgeries (banded in 2006 and now sleeved almost 3 weeks ago) the doc had me drink the little medicine cups of liquid.  I forget how much they hold, but it's like what comes with cough syrups, etc.  Maybe they hold 30 ml LOL  I never paid attention.  They just told me to drink a certain number of them every 2 hours.

I had the same doctor as you and I never measured what I drank and no one asked me if I drank anything either.
