Hi all,  I'm a new member, was banded on 6/16/09.  Looking for support from a great group because this is new to me and i'm anxious and struggling.  The liquid diet is hard for me because i'm feeling hungry and anxious.  Did anyone have lots of anxiety after surgery?

Hi,

Congratulations on having your surgery. I also have the band but I didn't really have any hunger during the 1st month or so. Are you getting in enough protein? I think during the 1st couple of weeks, I was drinking protein shakes and added protein powder to sugar free pudding and anything else that I could. You should also post this question on the LapBand Surgical Forum. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

How do u get the tracker at the bottom of your message?  I didn't think about adding the powder to other things!  Thanks for the excellent tip.  I'm new and very anxious about doing everything the right way, so afraid of something going wrong.   I'm in Baltimore too!

Just wanted to welcome you to the MD board.  Congrats on your band.  While I'm not a bandster, I struggel with anxiety over food still to this day.  I think it is just because we want to be successful and don't want to feel like failures.  Hope all goes well for you.

Welcome to the Maryland Board!!!  I'm not a bandster either, but IMHO, regardless of the type of surgery you've had, you'll find no better support than right here!!

There are more people who have had RNY, but there are also some great bandsters on here, too!

I think everything you're feeling is perfectly normal - your body is still healing, and your head is probably spinning from everything you've got to deal with.

Just follow your surgeon's guidelines and hopefully, once you get some restriction, you won't "feel" as hungry!

Again, welcome!

Hugs,

Tia

I heard the anxiety can be normal but I guess I just dont understand why I have so much anxiety.  The first two nights at home I felt like I was having an anxiety attack....sweating, pacing, worrying, very strange for me.  I do feel feel better today and I hope each day gets better.

Thanks for the welcome.  I need all the help I can get.  I'm dealing ok with the pain from incisions but the anxiety is crazy.  Don't even understand why I'm in panic mode.

CONGRADS TO YOU!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the Losers Bench honey!!!

I went through it and THANKED GOD for Sugar Free Fudgesicles lol

Then at day 12 when I was allowed mashed up scrambled eggs I was in HEAVEN!!! I took soup and put it in the blender for a few days and it was okay. And broth and tomato soup was a GODSEND too!!!

It will pass fast honey I promise. (((Hugs))))
